Toyota has already confirmed there is a software update to address a throttle hesitation issue.
BMW already had this in the works for the Z4. and makes sense the Supra is affected too.
The challenge is getting your local Toyota dealer to get it done for you. I had to kick a fuss for months...
It comes back occasionally but I tried following the BMW notice and the noise goes away when I open the filler cap and close it again. Only occurs after filling the tank. No other error codes.
The dealer took me on a test drive with a 2.0 unit they had. Exact same whistling noise. So I figured itâs just inherent in the car and left it as is.
I read a BMW note svc bulletin about fuel tank noise, and tried releasing filler cap and retightening. Noise went away. It occasionally reoccurs after I fill up the gas tank but I figure itâs just the same thing.
I didnât have any gas tank error messages thrown tho.
Bulletin excerpt below...
I just got my car updated for the throttle hesitation fix. I havenât experienced the hesitation for long while even prior to the fix, so still monitoring that.
But I did notice that the engine oil and coolant temps have dropped. I use the recommended oil, and it used to run above 100 deg...
Did you consider adding the tanabe quick release levers? I like the tanabe brace cos looks like you can remove the bars for car servicing access, while leaving the mount points in place.
I thought about getting quick release too, but the bolt placement at the side bars looks like it may not...
Was the update offered to you without request? Or did you already have the issue filed with the dealer?
Im curious if this update will be rolled out to all cars or only those with registered issues.
My local dealership advised they expect the update to be available this month, after Toyota is able to run all the tests to ensure compliance with emissions standards here. Fingers crossed, cos the hesitation is still happening for me and still scary as sh*t when youâre merging into traffic.
i love driving the i3. Really wanted to get one, but it was just too much money now for the oldish tech.
tried the Tesla model 3 for a day. Got boring real fast. Itâs a perfectly capable car, but felt like I was driving a giant iPad on wheels. versus the i3 which is so fun to drive.
Nothing...
the window reset procedure for bmws is supposed to be
1) lower windows, press and hold for 15 seconds after its retracted all the way
2) raise window all the way up, press and hold for 15 seconds.
Iirc itâs done while the doors are closed. But you may want to make sure the window still drops...
Some owners in the Z4 forum reported similar issues and one shared that his local dealer advised software update was due to address it. So far, I have not heard back from any of them about the update. The supra update for Asia (EU emissions) is also not ready yet.
Not personally, but know of another owner who had the headliner edge âpop outâ where it meets the frame gasket. Assume he had it fixed under warranty, but wasnât as major as the liner sagging down.
can anyone post a current available video of this?
I noticed a whine/hum noise from my steering wheel. it happens at low speeds, when the steering wheel returns to center. hoping its a minor EPS thing, but i've never experienced this in any other BMWs.
Active connection being the key point. Different apps run connections differently. My bimmerlink has triggered the alarm many times when I forgot to disconnect.
Yours is an EU spec, I assume.
when I was looking at the 2020 model, the sales manager informed me that 2021 model onward units would less exhaust burbles with an OPF added. They checked with Toyota cos customers had thought we would get the upgraded power model like the US, but we also follow...
It looks great, but I would push the dealer for a proper replacement if i were you.
ive had a similar crack in a tailight light (albeit trunk mounted) and the stress crack only worsened with time. Got it fixed at my own expense since it was out of warranty by the time it cracked right to the...
Thanks for keeping us posted.
So they have run an update for you, but donât really know what the update addresses?
When my dealer informed me of an upcoming update that should address my problem, they didnât seem to know much more either. Just what HQ tells them. (And doesnât seem like they...
Hill assist is not an optional feature. Itâs pretty standard in all bmws. And the hesitation happened to me once while moving off up a slope. The car did not roll back an inch - but the rpmâs just bounced and car would not move forward.
