You forgot this one: Donât buy a used performance car, because thereâs a high likelihood that some original owner-clown rationalized the break-in period as bullshit in a futile effort to mask his immaturity and lack of self control.
And this one: Manufacturers create pointless, bullshit...
You have the right idea. Keep the speeds and RPM varied while avoiding hard pulls or high RPM. As long as youâre not droning along on cruise control you may not be conducting the best break in ever but youâre not going to trash anything eitherâŠ.imo.
The dealer Fâd you, so never go back there and let them profit from servicing your vehicle.
Ask another dealer if they can check the engine logging (some vehicles store that info forever as a way to protect the dealer/manufacturer from false warranty claims). If they can, and you find out that...
All gears are available in Sport Mode, and saying different is 100% mistaken. Sport mode simply holds on to lower gears longer to keep the rpm and responsiveness up - ready for romping.
Sport mode is, IMO, pretty much pointless UNLESS youâre romping AND need that extra tiny bit of performance...
Ummmmm....No, it absolutely does not.
I own both and thereâs no comparison. The Supra is a better car overall, but it canât hold a candle to the Z06. Not even in the same league.
âModern cars donât need break inâ ranks among the worst internet advice Iâve ever seen, demonstrates an ignorance of the topic, and/or a lack of patience/discipline.
I was religious about my own break in, counting down the miles until I could let âer rip. Hereâs a pic of my odometer as I...
This isnât my first vehicle with sport mode (other is a â15 Z06) and I have preferred normal most of the time in both. I simply find no advantage to sport most of the time, as I donât need sport most of the time. Those times when a faster shift and stiffer springs etc actually benefit the drive...
Sorry Engineer, I just noticed that u have a base model. I hope that I havenât led you astray, but I donât know whatâs excluded in the base model :-(
No one at my dealer knew wtf they were doing since itâs basically a Bimmer. Iâm on my own, and I suspect that others besides the two of us are too.
Sure. Itâs available right there in your car on the main screen. I canât remember the details on how I found it, but it wasnât hard. If I did it, I promise that you can too.
Here are a couple of vids which I have not watched but may be of help.
Please donât follow the above âbreak it in hardâ advice. Worst wives tale/myth ever perpetuated on the automotive public. Be patient, follow the recommended break in. Just because one may get away with the âhardâ method does NOT mean thatâs whatâs best for your engine and your investment.
