They gotta keep those horizontal lights from the concept! Seeing the fake round lights just shows you how much better an angular horizontal tail light looks. And if they can somehow manage to keep the cutouts/vents underneath the lights, that would be a bonus :headbang:
Agreed, but it's better than the new 86 front bumper.
I REALLY hope they keep the center stalk section of the FT-1 front bumper somehow. That to me is what makes the front end of the FT-1 look so good...that Formula 1 car inspired look.
GT350? Yea I dont see it happening anytime before 2019 so you're better off enjoying that ride for a few years. I would imagine a lot of the people initially interested when the FT1 came out have moved on to other cars. Luckily I'm in no hurry except death comes to us all so yea get on with it...
Damn how do you remember all these dates. That's reassuring to know that a long silence from Toyota doesn't mean the car isn't getting made. The first camouflaged prototype is gonna set the internet on fire.
The problem is Toyota risks the FT-1 becoming the butt of jokes about how they keep showing the car without any updates or progress. But if they put out an updated FT-1 that would keep the buzz going nicely!
Nice catch, looks like it to me. But that looks like concept level stuff. The dash trim screen looks awesome!
I was reminded how much I love the FT-1 styling when the design sketch popped up right after the interior shots.
I think that the newest rumor about the sub-86 car was based on a 2 year article. Anyways, Tada (chief engineer for the FR-S, MKV Supra and this sub-86 car) already confirmed that this car was in the works.
@Craigy is right I think we'll see the refreshed FR-S, Supra, then Sub-86.
I just hope...
Because the FR-S exists in the $20-30k space for Toyota and they've said that the Supra will positioned be above the FR-S, it'll likely come in at the same relative pricing and positioning of the MKV Supra.
Would make sense if they keep the Z in its current segment and price range but if they decide to move the Z downmarket and make it smaller/lighter then it'll probably get a smaller engine (turbo 4) as rumored.
There's still a space under the FR-S for an entry level sports car. Look at cars like the Miata and upcoming Fiat roadster that'll be based off it. And the FR-S starts in the mid 20's. If they can bring a car that starts $5k less that drives well it might sell like hotcakes.
Wonder how much power and how high revving they could tune this engine to be. The previous Supra was legendary for its engine, hope that stays true with this one.
