  1. Windows squeaking!

My windows squeak like crazy. Worse when going up. I took it to the dealer for other service and they did a quick clean of the window and weatherstripping and it was a tiny bit better but still pretty bad. They said I needed to schedule another appointment for them to open up the door card and...
  2. wiggle stick rookie seeking advice

This is general MT advice for starting from a stop, so you may already have done this but... Get good at finding the friction point of the clutch, without using the gas. On level ground, from a stop, start with the clutch all the way down, slowly lift the clutch until the revs start to drop...
  3. Auto vs Manual - Which to Buy?

"Which transmission is best transmission" is like "Which color is best color". Like others have said, it depends on the driver. I like hearing people's rationale for their choice, but I don't feel threatened because my choice was different. The Supra is my first AT car because there was no MT...
  4. Car attacked by same bird everyday

If it dive bombs at you as you walk by and/or makes a "bark-bark-bark" call, then it's probably defending a nest nearby.
  5. Understanding Engine Break In

The discussion around heat cycling was interesting. It's a good reminder to wait until the engine and transmission come up to temp before WOT. This is good advice to follow anytime, but probably even more so during the break-in period.
  6. GR Supra 3.0 Rented from Turo and Raced at a Top Speed Event

What's frustrating in this case is that it is probably difficult to prove damages aside from worn tires (and only if the owner has records or photos of the tire condition before the trip). It's unlikely the owner has records for the amount left on the brakes pads/rotors, and it's probably...
  7. Toyota free track day and NASA membership

FWIW, when I did my NASA track day (as a complete track n00b) at Sonoma, I was worried about crashing or something bad happening. First session was "slow" but still faster than I expected but it was a good warm up to get some of the jitters out. An instructor rides along with you and helps you...
  8. Auto Off Not Working

From what it sounds like, I agree that it's probably due to the battery charge state. I also noticed that our car automatically will switch on the AC to defog the windshield if it detects any condensation, even when the AC button is off (light not on) and I never pressed the defog button. When...
  9. What fuel brand do you go to?

From day one, I have always had trouble with the gas pump clicking off every 2 gallons even though there was plenty of room left. The Costco pumps (here in California at least) are the most finicky when it comes to staying on. If I just put in the nozzle normally, then it will often click off...
  10. What fuel brand do you go to?

I also go to Costco because it's cheaper and it qualifies for the Top Tier designation. Another perk is that it is always fresh gas because of the crazy volume of gas they sell everyday. The pumps (and I presume, filters) are always in good working order.
  11. Loving new Supra. Early experience and questions

I second the suggestion to call ahead and schedule your maintenance at the Toyota dealer. That way, you can ask them to confirm that their Supra tech(s) is scheduled for that day. My (large) dealership said the Supra tech is in once a week (Thursdays) and I could only schedule on that day. I...
  12. Scheduled Maintenance Recommendations

The maintenance isn't specified in the manual. It's in the Warranty & Maintenance Guide which can be downloaded from here (for MY2022, but it's probably the same for all mkv): https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/omms-s/T-MMS-22Supra/pdf/T-MMS-22Supra.pdf
  13. First oil change, when did you guys get yours done?

I did my first oil change at the Toyota dealership at 11 months, odo 4100 miles. The dealership said I qualified for my first free ToyotaCare oil change as long as I was at least 11 months in. (The first scheduled maintenance is in terms of time is 12 months.) I scheduled an appointment on a day...
  14. Toyota Crown Returns to the US with Bold Style and New Hybrid Max Powertrain

Toyota already has a similar shape vehicle: the Mirai. I expect similar design language. The Mirai is on the TNGA-L platform which is RWD/AWD and used by the JDM Crown. The Crown we are getting in the North America will likely be on the Camry's TNGA-K platform which is FWD/AWD. Toyota seems...
  15. Bay Area Supras

Also down for a meetup. South Bay is good.
  16. Costco Gas

Thanks @SupraYYJ. I checked and the spacers have already been removed. That wheel gap is just how the stock ride height looks like.
  17. Costco Gas

Costco is top-tier rated and has fresh gas because they refill so often. Pumps and credit card readers are usually in good working order. The only problem is that you might need to wait in line if your Costco is popular.
  18. Bay Area Supras

    Congrats! I'm in Mountain View.
  19. Break in road trip?

If you want to go by the book, the manual only says to keep it under 4500rpm and 100mph for the first 1200 miles. I went on a ~1000 mile road trip a couple of days after I picked up the car. Even though I don't think it makes a huge difference in terms of longevity, I still did vary my vehicle...
  20. THIS Is the Manual Toyota Supra [Official Release]

Some safety feature differences between the MT and AT: Based on options table at the bottom of the press release, it looks like the MT versions can only get "High-speed cruise control" which I interpret as ordinary cruise control for a set speed and will not slow down to maintain your distance...
