Firestone Indy500 -great dry grip and good wet grip
Falken FK510- good dry grip and great wet grip
it rains here a lot so will likely go with the Falken next.
I’ve ran both before and love both. Don’t get me wrong, MP4S is king but these are almost as good for significantly cheaper.
I’ve been auto crossing a 21 Supra on rt660 (BS) since March this year which is 4 events so far and have settled early on 32/30. That’s based off previous experience with the rt660 on my previous Ax car a Vette which I ran at 30/28 and basically going as low as I could on the fronts before...
Yup like a dum dum I put the two insides on one side and the two outsides on the other side. Swapped them today. Thanks again.
One more question because I can’t tell with the wheels on. Are the fronts inside outside specific too or are they identical?
They don’t have those dimples. The exposed back is all flat. There must be something there though that is preventing the movement that it needs. I’ll have to inspect.
Recently installed CSG CP pads front and rear. I just noticed my rears don’t look like they are making full contact on the right rear. Was wondering if anyone else encountered this. I did just go out and tried another bedding procedure right before pics. Braking also feels normal.
still stock except for Cusco front bar and CSG CP brake pads. Don’t have any other mods planned at this point. I stick to scca street class. Camber stock is just under 2 degrees and right now I’m running 0 toe f/r. I’ll probably put a little toe in in the rear but the car doesn’t really need it.
I can’t speak for a sticky drag strip but on the street I spin if I launch with more than 1800 even with sticky tires. I shoot for 1700-1800. I also read somewhere that much more than 2000, you’ll risk breaking something.
I wanted to throw one more idea out there. I’m only two Ax in with the car but this is what I’ve noticed. I run in sport everything and everything off. Coming out of a corner you have to get on the throttle early, a bit earlier than you would think but softly, just enough to load the rear...
much cheaper and almost as good as MP4S, indy500 and fk510. Indy a little stiffer/sportier, 510 a little softer more comfortable. Both on the cheap end but with great grip. Just in case value matters and you don’t need the best.
Also think they are one of the best bang for buck street tire but a small notch less grippy than the MPSS. I’ve ran them off and on for years because they’re such a good value price/performance.
So after my first Ax, I think the sway bar is probably faster than stock. My local Ax is tight and slow so it hurts a bit more than a faster Ax, but I benefit at being able to put the power down sooner and harder. The car was too tail happy stock. Made getting on the power early more difficult...
Ax event. No issues. No rub. RT660 265/295-35-19 balance felt just like the stock tires. It should since there was about the same difference between front and rear tread width as stock. The tires don’t even look that pinched, maybe just a little, but as far as clearance there’s plenty space for...
