Max has a horse shoe up his ass after that qualifying (round 2, round 3 was just typical Max).

Obviously we don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but I'm quite surprised on the timing of this. Do they expect improvements to happen in the second half by letting both of these guys go?

I do understand that ownership is upset about Aston and McLaren passing them this season, but I felt that Alpine was doing okay up until the last couple of races where McLaren just completely turned around their season.

I’m not either. The wife and I were saying what a nice guy… too bad he’ll be out soon ? You could see that coming a mile away. Alonzo was smart for leaving. They just don’t have the coherence like some of the other teams. Mechanically they appeared to be breaking down more as well?

Christian really seems to have it mastered. He’s been dyno ? might ? keeping that well oiled F1 machine together. Sure he’s admittedly obsessive compulsive, married to a beautiful obsessive compulsive woman, and they support each other. That catalyst is on fire ? The team feeding off of each other and definitely going to be hard to beat.

I’m more impressed with Zack Brown that I previously thought. His team is really behind him and he is equally obsessed like the rest of these managers. But he’s staying positive. Hard thing to do when you’re down. So kudos to him. Loved watching him loose his ? over that 2nd place finish a few weeks ago. Lando kept saying I’m so happy for Zack. Great to hear stuff like that.

Really easy for Horner to keep that car from breaking down, they typically don’t have to turn the engine up all the way and the racers don’t have to push the mechanical limits. A perfect example is Max car already used up all his gearbox’s, that would not be the case if the pack was close and challenging, but because that car and drivers are so far ahead they can afford to retire parts early and preemptively stop any possible break downs.

I’m actually more impressed with the Merc reliability over the past year and a half as they haven’t had many break downs and they are most certainly turning that car up to maximum performance and the drivers too are pushing as hard as they can. So to do that and not have many break downs is impressive. At least to me.

Great point! Didn’t even consider that. And I do like Toto too. They are a great team as well. This weekend should be a blast to watch ?

Yeah Red Bull are taking penalties for the fun of it ?
He had a broken gearbox in Jeddah, so that's why he's changing it, not because they "feel like it". He needed another one.

Mercedes just last weekend had both drivers lift and coast during the race because they were overheating, Russell has had a DNF or two already this year. In Australia his engine died and in Canada (helped by him kissing the wall) his brakes failed.

So, yup 0 for 2.

Again

Fantastic Sprint yesterday! I’ll be reading today at work why Max got knocked down 5 places for a gearbox change… Unfortunately I had to fast forward some of the qualifying.

Should be an interesting race. Spa looks amazing & I love the bigger track! Hopefully that’ll give Max enough time to climb back up and do his Max thang ? ? ? ?

Appears drying out now at the circuit - Spa now with very little chance of rain until after the race. Max should be P2 by the end of lap 1 lol. A 5 place gearbox 'penalty' is a slight delay with him at the wheel of the RedBull. A bit of a temporary challenge!

It's Spa. Anything can happen at the first corner. It's claimed many front wings.

Martin’s fan walk.

Just let it die Sky Sports.
Yeah, I prefer him on the grid chasing down uptight celebs by far! Not the fans fault they donā€˜t speak English. It was like listening to Tonto speaking to the Long Ranger. ā€œMe like Red Bull, brother like other guyā€

His after race interview was much better. He knows what he’s talking about and what to ask. Not, do I hear a quiver in your voice? Tell us your emotions ? Pluuuuuusssseeeee…..

As far as the race, it was worth my lack of sleep today to watch the recording last night. Loved that long track. 2 RBs and a Ferrari- nice!! Additionally, wet, dry, tires, none of it seemed to slow Max down. My fav post race quote: ā€œI’m the one in the car feeling how the tyres are behaving. They have the numbers but it’s still also a feeling thing.ā€

Now I just have to wait for the Mohawk guy to come out with a YouTube video. Can’t wait ?

Exactly right. Especially since they didn't have any dry tire data to begin with. All weekend has been wet up until that point. The first stint deg is completely different from the third stint because they're driving on much less fuel, and a fully rubbered in track by then. In the end the driver's ass is the most reliable tool. It feels the car and how it behaves.

Wasn't the worst race for sure. But it was a shame that Oscar and Carlos tangled in that first corner. Was definitely Carlos fault, but I think he was trying to avoid running into the back of the guys in front and wasn't aware that Oscar was beside him. By no means do I think it was intentional or something worthy of a penalty.

Lando had a decent recovery for the race, dealing with issues early on and falling back but the team was able to fix the issue remotely and get him back on track.

The other thing that I wish would have happened is Danny Ric qualifying a bit better, that last lap being taken away really hurt. He got stuck in a DRS train with the slowest car, so the fact that he basically out drove two other drivers is a decent result. He certainly had a better shootout and sprint race, even though he was robbed of a point there. Good for Yuki to get a point, mind you he only finished one place higher than he started with two drivers ahead retiring.

Is it just me or does it seem to be awfully quite on the spending cap for last year. That should be coming out soon I would think, maybe this coming month. This time last year it was a rather hot topic.
