Stayed up later than I’d like watching it and some of the post interview. Wow was it worth it! In hindsight, they probably shouldn’t have screwed with Max’s 1st place quali. Really gave him the ammo needed to fight on. But it definitely was a forecast of what was to come. Holy penalties!!!! They should have cleaned up the debris sooner. And poor Lewis, just gutted!!! Happy for Zhou ? At least he has something now to show for all his efforts in F1.

Also, where has Max’s sister been all this time? Guess his DNA ? isn’t that flawed after all, lol. Funny watching that mechanic work his way into talking to her post race. He’s better off talking to Max 1st ?
Funny thing is, when they were Karting as kids, Max's sister was even faster than him. His mom, Sophie, was a world class go-kart champion, and regularly beat F1 drivers like Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button.

Bit optimistic there, Max, but there was a gap. Don't think it deserved a penalty since it's the first lap and he went round himself too. Shame because it looked like he had the speed to fight for the win.

I wish Max would have backed off a pinch sooner, avoided the hit, to still been In it w/out the penalty. But you’re right. That woulda been a great battle.

My wife asked what did Lewis win? By showing up on the newly 4th podium spot on TV and getting an historic team switching celebration (spinout included). I told her it was because the amount of money he draws and how many titles he won with Mercedes.

She thought Carlos should have been able to do it too, lol.

Yeah the whole Lewis thing was ridiculous. He's switching teams, big deal. If he was retired that would be something. But like you said, Sainz moved too. Bottas and Magnusson ARE gone, and they got nothing. It was stupid.

So I’ve been thinking about this past season, it was awesome with 7 drivers winning at least 2 races, and the field tightening up.
…but I was thinking about my driver of the year, if that matters anyway ?

brought his team from the last place position to 6th in the constructors championship (with his team mate of course)

over performed throughout the season but very noticeable towards the end…

…and didn’t damage his car at all the whole season, a wonderful stat in the cost cap era

I would think that Pierre Gasly would make a strong argument for being the performer of the year. My 2 cents anyway which is grossly overvalued!

oh, did I see a Santander sticker on a Williams? Gotta give the little guys a shot of capital!

First day on track tomorrow. Preseason so won’t really know where they stand but I’m looking forward to this season. New drivers, see how Liam is as Max teammate, Lewis in a Ferrari, Sianz in the Williams. My favorite livery is Kicks and HAAS, I really dig the green fade. And like the looks of HAAS. Worst for me is Racing Bulls or what ever they are calling themselves. Ferrari looks weird with the big white HP logo. Overall I can’t wait to see this last season of these cars, should be great.

I agree. I'm so excited for this season. Normally you kinda know who is going to be where but it really could be any of the top 4 this year. Nobody will go full speed in testing though, unless they do a glory run. We won't really know until Q3 in Australia.

Judging by their race runs, I'd put McLaren first, RedBull second, with Mercedes narrowly ahead of Ferrari but with the caveat that Ferrari will score better because they have 2 experienced drivers instead of 1. Lawson has 11 races under his belt so I'm giving him a little leeway to stat ahead of both Ferrari and Mercedes if the Redbull is faster.

Yeah…. McLaren looks like the team to beat. Wife and I are rooting for Max to bring home another championship & Liam to finally bring enough points for the constructors. Hope they can get Max’s car dialed to his liking. He’s so amazing to watch when he‘s confident in the car.
Lewis and Charles will be fun to watch as well. Especially if Lewis can keep up with Leclerc’s qualifying pace. That competition should be fierce & hopefully it won’t make Lewis want to quit a race again, like last year.
George with Toto’s protege Kimi - hopefully there won’t been too much whining from George if Kimi does well. Not sure if there’s enough Toto luv to go around for him ?
The rest will also be great to watch, with Carlos and Alex vying for Williams attention, Esteban hopefully mentoring Oli (not loosing his cool as he usually does when he’s not in front), and Pierre hopefully helping Jack make Haas & Toyota competitive.
Unfortunately Alonso is still stuck with Lance… so even with Adrian Newy & big Stroll money, I doubt that’ll be enough to give Lance the passion needed for Aston to be as competitive as they should.

Feels like this will be the last year for these current top teams to really bang it out before the unknown new 2026 F1 debuts & vegetable oil ⛽ wars begin. Or whatever they’re using to propel those new (hopefully smaller & just as fast) cars.

There are going to be 5 rookies on track at the first race, I think we should have an over/under for number of safety cars per race this year...

And we're off! Rookies doing rookie things, hitting walls. Hadjar looked best to me.
Russell doing Russell things, going straight off in a corner.
Hamilton looked uncomfortable in the car, you could tell he was struggling a bit. Curious to see how he looks in FP2.

Carlos looked great. I’m torn on this year. I’m a huge Hamilton fan, I really really dislike Ferrari. I dislike RedBull but like Lawson lol. I love Mercedes and really dislike Russel. So I’m pulling for Antonelli.

You’re right Hamilton looked very uncomfortable from what first time around turn 3? Locked the brakes then.

Thats what happens when you let your rookies drive a car never set up on soft tires on low fuel.

im hoping for a great season.

I'm waiting till China to see where everyone slots in. Australia is an odd track. China is a proper circuit. Hot qualy, wet race on Sunday will tell us nothing.

That was an awesome Qualy. Yuki making a statement he should've been in that RedBull. Love it. Williams awesome. Max dragging that thing higher than it should be again. If it rains, it's going to be an epic race.

Hoooooly crap! What a nail biter! McLaren built a missile! In the dry it's in a league of it's own. I hope RedBull can keep up but that long straight in China will probably see them dissappear. Think RedBull made a mistake keeping Max out one lap too many. Excellent job by Norris. Ferrari the big losers. Albon, Williams, loving it.
