How much oil consumption is normal and what have you guys seen on your cars

Well, so far i have had my car since 10500 miles and now im on 16000 (after a year and a month) i have tested oil level many times and it says its fine. I have a bottle of 1 litre supra oil in the boot(trunk for the us guys ) and so far have not needed it.

As a dipstick type this makes me rather nervous but then again so does the 20k service window. In any case i've decided im going to try an lean on toyota for my "first free service" now rather than in 9k miles and then problem solved.

But will they alter the terms of the deal i wonder...... (i'm not getting my hopes up that the salesman recorded my "free service" anywhere)

I had a 2021 that gave me an oil warning every 1k miles. I had it lemon lawed and toyota bought it back from me. My 2023 hasn’t shown any movement on the digital dipstick in 7k miles. I’ve done track days and drive it pretty hard so anyone who says a little consumption is “normal” is on copium.

This is exactly what I’m doing, except I’m doing a replacement and they are giving me a 2023 since they can’t find a 2021 in my same spec. How do you like the 23 vs the 21?

The "free service" is something for Soccer mums to get excited about. I'd be pleased if the dealer mechanic could do a competent job on the service you actually pay for. The free service should be re named the "Apprentice Service". In my experience any service the dealers not getting paid directly for isn't worth having.
I've still got to jump the hurdle on both my new cars of taking them for a Service after I've done the oils and filters myself. I usually tape over the filter access covers and filler caps with with a note it's already been done. Had no issues in the past but the past is the past.

Im kind of warming around to this as it happens. The dealer is ages away anyway from where i live and even further when i move in a few months. As it happens im moving very close to Garage Whifbitz who are as i understand a pretty respected UK tuner in supra terms and i'll likely take it somewhere like that....

As far as i'm aware we are on a longlife service schedule deal over in the UK as witht he B58 BMWs etc

Edit: although now even the UK site says 10k or yearly.

Think i was thinking of from a warrenty perspective. You are right in that its 10k miles or when the car says..... which could be sooner

Related question: how much coolant consumption is normal? I had to add 2.5 cups recently to my 2020 with 24k miles.

Never smelled it or had any leaks that I’ve seen

My dealership gave me 2 complete oil changes for no charge for the free maintenance protection package. They advised me they didn't care at what mileage I took them, but I was only allowed 2.
I was finished with the free maintenance at 5k miles.
Now I perform my own oil changes every 3k miles.
She's a creampuff. ??

That is true and you should let the oil temp come up before leaning on it at any time. During break in it's also the reason you don't hold a consistent load but ramp the load up and down. But you should also start it and just drive it conservatively until the oils up to temp and not idle the engine to get it warm. It is amazing the punishment an engine will take though with regards to this. My friend worked in a major manufacturers test cell here running Cal and stress tests on engines all day everyday. One of those tests was to cool the cell down to -40 deg C or something approaching that then start the cold engine and ramp it up to max RPM within 20 seconds at WOT and hold it there for 20 min or so then repeat some pre determined amount of times then strip and inspect it. They used to call it the "delivery guy test". They all used to do ok without failures or issues.
When the new owner of my RS picked it up he started it and said I'll idle it till it's warm, I always do this and it annoys my partner but I warm them up, what do you think? I said your partners right, it's
annoying, just start it and drive it conservatively until it's up to temp all you're doing is annoying her and wearing it out. Saved a relationship there maybe, lol.

All system fluids need to warm up before any spirited or aggressive driving occurs. The oil and gearbox take the longest of course.

You are just wasting good oil with such low use then changing. Modern synthetic oils can protect/lubricate for much longer. Additionally the additives need time to adhere to the surfaces to protect. Unless you are in a severe / high stress/ dirty environment you should go a bit longer on the changes. Its not 1970's Dino oil you are using. 10k miles on synthetic is what it is designed for. Have you done any oil analysis? At 3k your oil is very very new still in terms of wear.

If the car is used only for very short trips which quite a lot can be such as a few klms to and from the station carpark everyday and local shopping, dropping the kids to school, etc they never get properly warm and the oil gets fuel and water contaminated. Under those conditions you need to change even a full group 4 synthetic every 3-5000 miles. Even full synth isn't immune to fuel and water contamination esp in the colder climates.
The Supra shouldn't be doing much of that sort of work though I would have thought.

Most makers define heavy or extreme use/dusty etc. in the book and the requisite maintenance schedule associate.
