Wont affect oil consumption.
Phil
apparently it does. after replacing the oil filter cap with MMR billet oil filter housing cap with built in pressure control oil bypass (which is the piece i slightly cracked while transferring from oem housing cap to paragram) Ive gone thru 2 oil changes with no more "oil at minimum" message popping up near the 4900 miles mark.

The filter bypass valve does what the name suggests, it bypasses the filter media when the differential pressure across the media reaches a pre determined diff pressure. Even if it is jammed wide open or you left it out completely it wouldn't affect oil consumption. It would affect other things but not consumption. I honestly don't really know what your original consumption indication issue was unless the damaged bypass valve/housing was creating an external oil leak. I mean you could remove the oil filter completely and consumption wouldn't be affected.
