For those interested in the engineering stuff I recently decided to make up some Titanium special bolts to replace the standard steel ones on a motorcycle project of mine. I'm no expert with the machinery so it was as much about the learning as anything else. One of the benefits of Ti hardware is not only the weight reduction but also Ti maintains it's beautiful finish indefinitely.

Not that expensive these days. Grade 5 Ti bar stock not too bad price wise. I have just finished the book "Skunk Works" about the Lockheed secret special projects department. Designers and makers of the U2, SR71 Blackbird and the stealth bomber among other aircraft back in the day.
The Blackbird was all Titanium and back in the 60's before the wall came down Russia was the only world source. The CIA set up front companies to procure Titanium from the Russians to build a spy plane that flew over Russia at Mach 3.2 and was untouchable by the Russians to photograph images of their shit. The USA when they got their minds to it and were led by strong willed brilliant individuals got shit done back then that's for sure.
