So it is "normally" not a leak, but rather a sweating of oil so to speak?

By the way, I cannot find anything in the maintenance schedule that specifies when the diff fluid needs to be changed.

I think they overfill it and it leaks out the breather tube at the top. It will stop leaking when the level balances out....pretty janky, but eh...

I asked the dealership's dedicated Supra service rep if he's had to check out many Supras with diff leakage, and he said that he cannot recall any. He says he has a Supra in the shop every few months, mostly for oil changes.

I hope you are correct, since the dealership most likely doesn't stock plugs or washers if they are typically not needed within a month.

Exactly. Both of mine did it at the beginning and then stopped.

Did you take your car to the dealership for verification?
I know you were asking someone else, but I never took my Supra in for this.

You really really want to keep your Supra away from a Toyota dealership unless its for a recall. They are not experienced, and do not want to service this car.

The 'Supra Technician' at my dealership is a friend of mine, so I didn't need to. Some experienced BMW M guys I know have also said it's nothing to be concerned about.

Not a Corvette.

It pukes out the breather opening at the top of the diff. It only does that when it's overfilled. Mine has never done it.

Thanks.
Hopefully it is just that, but I'd feel better if the dealership at least documents the leak.

We drag guys have a fix for this, actually.

We just pop out the freeze plug on the top of the diff, tap the hole with, and run some steel braided AN line up into the bumper with a filter on it. Can stay "over" filled, and no more leaks.

...but not while the car is under warranty?;)
