I just got brand new tyres (same size as the original tyres) Rainsports 5 and I got some really weird problems.
The car feels like it's floating. The back feels a bit "laggy" with the steering wheel. On motorway, I have to constaltly correct and it's hard to just go in straight line, feels a bit nervous. Also on the corners at higher speed I lost confidence. I noticed stability light coming up a few times, but I'm not sure if that wasn't the case in the past and I just didn't see it :D

Basically, the car feels unsafe.
At low speeds (10mph?) if I turn the wheel right and left quickly, the back seems to be a few hubndred miliseconds behind the front wheels and I'm like a freaking snake, doing "microdrifts", feeling like I'm driving a bit sideway on a straight line :D

The car has -20mm Eibach springs.
I've got 15mm spacers in the back.
Tyres are definitely correct size, fitted correctly and with correct tyre presure.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? Pleaaseeee? :)

Still on the OEM Michelin PSS up front?

Could be just that you're experiencing the dramatic difference in how the tire responds to turn-in, the amount of tread squirm (all new tires will feel like this compared to worn down tread), and sidewall flex. The OEM PSS tires are max performance, and it looks like the Rainsport 5 is not high performance oriented in comparison.

I was wondering what the heck tires were those.

Google:
Positive - Good aquaplaning qualities, safe wet handling.
Negative - Vague handling and limited lateral guidance on dry roads. Overall - Satisfactory.

Hope you kept the receipt

I had the same problem when I switched the rears from RT660s to NT555G2s (both 305/30/19 on an 11" wide wheel). Car felt sketchy and floaty at high speeds. I also had TC flashing on high speed curves like the freeway transition. I returned them and got PS4S and problem solved.

I had these (older model) on a Lotus years ago, and loved them.... :/
Since these were fitted and I did like 50 miles on them, I can't return them for a refund... soo.. yey ;)

Did you also added alignment and balancing services while changing tires?

try bringing the pressures up to 2.6bar/38psi. i believe that's where they are supposed to be.

The exact description OP gave happened to me when I only changed the rears. I still had the OEM PSS on the front. Once I got new fronts, the problem went away for the most part.

not sure if this will help mismatched tires, did you change the tire setting in the Idrive to match the size and type of rear tire?
