Just curious since BMW added the 48V hybrid brake regeneration system to the B58's(is this coming to the supra/z4 as well?)...does this change anything as it relates to tuning & performance ? It was something I never really noticed before that they changed for 2021. just curious if there are any considerations with the hybrid system that could affect the way flash tunes / piggybacks work since the hyrid apparently "does something" at low speeds in terms of extra horsepower. i see it listed on the m440i xdrive as well as many other B58's now, m340i, etc.

is this added already? I am under the impression that we may see it for MY22.
rumors of 11hp bump on WOT.

This has been floating:
The 48v hybrid system isn't the traditional hybrid setup and adds minimal weight. It is an extra 48v battery with an alternator and starter generator.

June 2020+ are not ECU flashable yet anyhow :) it'll probably be another table if visible to tuner... gotta look at bimmer forums as many X-suv's already have this..

Piggyback plays with AFR mostly, I doubt this would have any effect on it, probably can't be influenced..

i looked at the MY21 updates, BMW listed in August that it was now on the m340i, i also see it on the m440i. thought maybe it was just sedans at first, seems to be going across all the non "real" M cars slowly.

Ugh, that is a lot of weight and cost the customer is paying for just to get a better performing stop\start function and (maybe) a slight bump to mpg. Jeep and Dodge has started adding this 48v battery too.

The battery already in the Supra is expensive to replace. Can you imagine the cost of this 48v battery when it goes!!!

Yeah I just got a 21 Rubicon and it there's no longer an option without the 48V. I got the Pentastar V6 and the 48V is there to stay. Would hate to see it happen to the next year of sports cars, hopefully not!

Congrats on the Rubi. Feel free to post pics.
I've been contemplating a Mojave Gladiator once my son takes over my Sahara this year.
