Anyone have this spoiler? How is the quality and fitment?

VQ Carbon Spoiler

I thought of getting the AUTOTECKNIC spoiler but they have had some bad reviews on here.

If you look hard enough, every cf manufacturer will have bad reviews, fitment issues. Most products are from China/Taiwan and their QC is not very good.

I heard their quality is top notch and they’re made in the USA.

Saw a YT on it and went ahead and ordered it so I should know soon enough. I need to get some replacement mirror caps as well.

where does it say that it's made in the USA?
I asked the owner. They take OEM parts and overlay the carbon fiber in-house here in the USA, for example the steering wheels. The same goes for their other carbon fiber products.

Well they certainly ship fast and it looks great. Some very minor imperfections but I’m very pleased with it.

Now for you all who have put on spoilers. Is this going to be enough tape?

Here is a rough outline for the tape layout. Your pic looks about the same amount I received from Rexpeed.

Watched a video that used masking tape at left/middle/right to make a hinged effect and I may see if this will work.

Going to detail the car this weekend and I'll pick up some 3M Adhesion promotor before I attach the spoiler.

I created an outline on the car with blue painters tape then added 4 small pieces of tape on the spoiler. One one each side and one in the center top side and bottom side. Then I took a black Sharpie and created alignment hash marks at 3 points.

BTW- with that adhesion promoter only apply it to the area that will get the 3m tape. I sprayed it on a blue shop towel and applied it by hand. I’ve seen that promoter leave a residue thats tough to get off where you don’t want it.

And last off all try install it in one go. If you need to pull it back off to realign even with just the ends peeled back was a mother F to get off. Don’t ask how I know this. ?? haha.

Yep it's pretty much a one shot job. Going to be very careful.

Well failed miserably on the spoiler install I must not have gotten the tape close enough to the edge and it didn’t stick at all.
I’ll have to get more tape and try again.

mirror caps were much easier.

Sorry to hear the spoiler didn’t work out.

Those mirror caps looks really good though. Now you just need the Verus wind deflectors to compliment them.

Update on the spoiler. I had a local shop do it and ended up leaving it for 3 days to fully cure the tape. Drove it a few times and then put a package in the trunk and the whole thing quivered and was loose when I closed the trunk. $150 for install and Uber there and back. Not really blaming the shop, just disappointed.

There is a good 1/4 to 3/8 inch gap on the ends of the spoiler so I said F'it and caulked the thing in place and put weights on the ends. It's on there now! I used Aquarium caulk as it remains flexible, completely waterproof and not particularly hard to remove if needed. Used it for years in my reef and fresh water tanks.

I was extra busy this weekend so I didn't get to wash it so I'll update with pics when I can.
