Hi, this Eddy from Suma Performance.
Using the OEM core is a cheaper way to do it, not necessarily better. The process takes longer and is more expensive for the consumers.
With that, they can only make one at a time and require you to trade in the OEM steering wheel.
The reason they use the OEM core is that they didn't want to spend over $30k to invest in a mold. In our opinion, it actually makes better products and faster lead time.
We don't think you should pay over $700+ and wait for a few months.
Instead, we invested in a mold that costs easily over $30k. And use the core material (sorry if I wasn't being clear ) as the OEM to manufacture these cores.
Suma Performance is a relatively new brand. But my family has been in this industry for over 20 years. As a fellow car enthusiast, I wanted to provide quality parts at an affordable price. Traditionally, a manufacturer sells to a distributor who sells it to retail. Many hands pass before getting to you. Hence, higher pricing.
With our business model, we want to provide directly to you folks. That's the reason the price is more affordable. We'll slowly introduce more products, so I thought this was a good opportunity to introduce myself and Suma Performance. oh, and here are different perspectives of the steering wheels!
