After 10 years, they finally updated! They seem to be targeting the WRX sedan based on its design. speaking of, I'm really happy they channeled the OG Evos with those taillights!

Looks like a confused futuristic 2010's toyota just ate a retarded civic and grew a back end. (In a very bad way (but I do have hope cus lancers' never looked good when it's not an evo)).

Mitsubishi was my favorite Japanese automaker, now it's just Datsun's little female doggy.

I beg to differ! I love the look of my 2005 :p

At least they're doing a new Lancer sedan. Looks OK. Just OK. Given their current company direction what with naming a boring SUV as "Eclipse" I take this as a better step back in the right direction.

Are they doing any kind of Evolution at all, even as a hybrid with their AWD and AWS systems? Here's hoping it comes to the USA but in the last two years they've made no indication that they want to sell anything but SUVs and milk the Mirage's current generation until they just pull it from the lineup here.

Then again maybe the big shakeup at Nissan (since they control Mistu now) with their ongoing war and incarceration of Carlos Ghosn to kill his planned merger of Nissan with Renault perhaps Mitsubishi is also changing direction yet again. Just speculating but... I'm very positively surprised that they even decided to build a new Lancer.

Agree with the comments on here, that’s ugly. I kind of feel like they were having a nervous twitch and wanted to make it a SUV but someone had to keep reminding them it’s supposed to be a sedan/saloon...

Even if it was an suv, it still wouldn't look anything good.

the evolution ones were a different kind of beast, totally different car. These cars are brutal , their accel is pretty crazy even for todays standards. I hope they can make one based on their updated sedan

How can they go from the Evo X to that ugly P.O.S! It does look like a Civic. What's going on in Mitsubishi land.

It is ironic that we go from an Evo-eye WRX to a WRX-eye Lancer. Without the Evo it's just another competitor to the Civic and Corolla. Perhaps they will do a Rally Sport with a turbo.
Mitsubishi put out a nice looking compact CUV that I just happened to see today called an Eclipse Cross Trek. I guess they are inspired to use a Subaru moniker since it is pretty much a direct competitor. And Lexus has a new small wagon called a UX that looks almost identical.
