I had a condensation issue in my driver's side tail light (looks like it's pretty common) and the running light/turn signal LED eventually went out - causing a "brake lamp malfunction" code.
I replaced the tail light myself & now the running light LED has power and comes on, but it still has no control/turn signal and I still have the lamp malfunction code.
A friend that works at Toyota as a tech said that since it had water in it, it more than likely it shorted out the canbus control module for that side & it would need a new module and be programmed by Toyota.
Can someone confirm or deny this fix before I go through the time and money at the dealership?
It seems a little fucking excessive - I'm torn between just not dealing with it but also getting annoyed every time I see the malfunction light.
