Need some assistance with removing my airbag. I switched to a different steering wheel and now the horn goes off when I turn the steering wheel. I’ve messed around with it all morning and I simply cannot get the bottom of the airbag to break free. I’ll pay for assistance in turning my $50k paperweight to get working again.

I'm not in the area and would have loved to help but is the current issue that you can't remove the airbag again? I wanted to see how you wired it up. Also when I changed my steering wheel I disconnected the negative terminal from the battery first.

Appreciate it. Yes the negative terminal is disconnected. I have the left and the right side of the airbag disconnected. I just can’t get the bottom spring to disengage.

What I did start with the right then do the left I believe. If you get into an awkward place I would push it back and restart.

Also you have to make sure the edge of the screwdriver is vertical so it doesn’t slide into the spring.

Finally got it. I never ever wanna do that again. Started on the right for this iteration and that side as well as the bottom popped right off. Left side took some persuasion but it finally came off. Left side was sticking from the top. Pulled everything. Seemed fine. Put everything back together started it and turned the wheel full turn on both side and no horn. Hopefully that is all. Thanks again man for your suggestions.

I got one of those really small screwdrivers they give out for free - like you would stick in a pocket protector and notched it so it would catch the spring easily.

for my final attempt I used one of those knife sharpening rods that come with knife sets. Popped it right off. These YouTube videos make it look so easy lol. Granted every single project I do, no matter how easy it is supposed to be smacks me in the face and says weren’t not playing.

Glad I can help but it was all you! Congrats on the fix! ngl I almost gave up to doing mine but if you're persistent and careful it just takes a matter of time.

had it been my stock one still on, I probably would have given up and if the horn was still working. That not being the case really forced my hand on getting it done. It was your suggestion to go right to left. Every video, well probably almost all of them say to go left to right. Without you saying that I would probably be still hating life losing another five pounds of sweat lol
