I'd do the c clamp method. Should be quick, non permamnet , stable and non marring. I'd assume the aluminum surface isn't smooth enough for a suction cup to work for any length if time. Might have to stick a smooth circular sticker on the bar to act as a nice smooth surface to help the suction...

Thanks guys. At a mnimum I'll be getting a black cable to replace the white one and route this to the glove box. the white cable just screams Apple , and thieves are gonna go after it. I'd love to see a thieves face if they stole my 12 year old Ipod :rant:
