My experience from my M240i is the same as this. I should say that I pound on that motor. If the opportunity to accelerate at WOT presents itself, I happily oblige. That’s part of the reason I was quite happy that Toyota put the B58 in the Supra: I know it can take some punishing.

It’s about tailpipe emissions. It’s mostly about NOx, CO, and hydrocarbons. Diesels have to meet PM and sulfur standards as well, I think.

It is decatting and other emissions controls bypassing and there is a lot of it going on. Also, this isn’t about carbon footprint.

I find that convex mirrors on the Supra are particularly helpful and better than tacking on those small mirrors auxiliary blind spot mirrors. I have them now on both my Supra and my M240i. Of course, it all starts with proper mirror setup, but even within that, I find the convex mirrors help...
