It’s hard to call what the EPA has actually said meaningless and the say that the falsehoods in the RPM act should be taken seriously.
No one is proposing you cannot mod your car. That’s one of the biggest myths. That’s not a real thing. Never. That is hyperbole used to lead lemmings to the...
Here is clarification that the EPA offered:
“The EPA remains primarily concerned with cases where the tampered vehicle is used on public roads, and more specifically with aftermarket manufacturers who sell devices that defeat emission control systems on vehicles used on public roads.”
“EPA...
This simply isn’t correct. There is no outright attack and there has never been a time when you could do absolutely anything you wanted with a car that you drove on the public roadways. The folks spinning up the hyperbole about what the intent is are willfully misleading auto enthusiasts...
BimmerCode will allow you to change the speed at which the reverse camer turns off. I did this mod on my M240i and it lets you have video until you exceed the trigger speed.
not quite the solution sought, but it works for a little bit.
I get being concerned based on what some folks are claiming in videos and press releases, but those claims aren’t always accurate. What actual proposed legislation or specific new actions taken by the EPA do you feel constitutes an assault on internal combustion engines? Is it that you think...
It depends on what emissions you are talking about. Vehicles used to be a big part of NOx, SOx, and PM emissions, but the CAA act helped dramatically reduce that despite a huge increase in the number of vehicles on the road. you don’t hear much about acid rain anymore, and that is for a reason...
EPA’s interest is to address decatted vehicles and vehicles with emissions defeating devices. Most mods are unaffected. CARB is another matter, but a state matter.
That’s about what I was able to get. But, it might depend on some details that you might not be privy to (hold back, manufacturer incentives to dealer etc).
Be careful about believing the dealer invoice number:

I approached it as a good with a market value. I established relatively low starting point by reaching out to Carmax who still (but not for much longer) sells new Supras at a low...
Very good points and this is why we need international diplomacy.
And something else you said reminded me of something, and it is something that is happing here that I have thought to comment on in the past. This forum is unusual in the LACK of political or maybe better said...
No one has proposed no mods. No one has proposed anything close to that. It’s unfortunate, but people are getting mostly spun up for nothing.
If you want to be able to decat your street car and continue to drive it on the street legally, then yes, there is an issue. But there has been for...
I understand your frustration completely. Here is where a lot of the race car contention comes in. Many vendors sell to both street drivers and competition drivers. They rightly state that things like catless downpipes etc are for off-road (e.g. on track) use only. But, there is little to no...
Dulles, Virginia
well attended, but well behaved. Sheriff was there, but was really mellow in my opinion.
good meeting those of you who I only knew as avitars and nicknames.
Not sure if this is the same issue, but Inteva
OK, but EPA has a statutory, legal, requirement to enforce the clean air act. One could also argue a moral obligation. The increase in decatted cars and trucks and cars and trucks modified to bypass emissions controls have made that a big component...
Yep: I’m understand this having conducted air quality research in the past. I’m old enough to remember L.A. smog, which has been greatly reduced because of the clean air act.
