A possibility is the suspension and steering design makes the GR really sensitive to even slight out of balance/ out of round tires. Most tire shops balance tires to a tolerance +/- spec...not to zero. The car requires zero out of balance so we have this humming resonance at 65- 75 range.

Be interesting to see how this goes if theres no visual clue but an imbalance and if your dealer will replace based on internet as a source.

I've tried the options as I see them beginning with dealers and Toyota and no result so far in diagnosing this harmonic like rising/ falling resonance. I'd just encourage all that have this issue to check in here, maybe with enough numbers reported we can get Toyota to listen. For all we know...

No progress on fixing this. I drove Ft Worth to Austin at 80- 85- 90 on I-35 so all was fine at those speeds though if one was being really fussy could feel the buzzing just a bit. I'm taking a wait and see on this hoping to see the results from a poster on driveshaft replacement by his dealer...

We need to document how many have this issue, have they contacted dealers, what was dealers response, has Toyota Customer service been contacted and what was the response and outcome. The more numbers reported the more likelihood Toyota will begin to acknowledge there is a problem, dig into it...

That's an interesting possibility. Please keep us posted. And its encouraging theres a dealer ready to acknowledge and work the problem. Also, if this is warrantable then Toyota is stepping up.

I agree it feels rotational and a high frequency hum. It's worse on smooth road as if tire tread is somehow reacting with smoother road surface. Or maybe it's just more noticeable on smooth surface, hard to say.

I've owned lots of bikes that had plastic male peg-neoprene female grommet attachments. Applying a thin coat of silicone grease on the male peg ( no...not THAT one) eases removal and install.

My dealer experience has been dismal as well. I couldnt get either of two area dealers ( Ft Worth and Burleson Tx) to take a vibration issue seriously. Once the tech pronounced it "normal, a non issue" Toyota tech assist would not listen. The service mgr at the selling dealer stated outright...

Status of problem solving vibration is still there after conventional wheel balance, road force balance and alignment. Tire replacement is next step.
