And that would put the outright numbers ahead of the Supra by just going up to the S trim
The Supra slightly beat the base Cayman...the slight improvements in Cayman numbers by upgrading to the S model would put it on par with the Supra.
Hence, with a little more out of the GTS, it should be...
I would have thought so myself...but the numbers put the Supra only with Decimels of beating a base Cayman in the review...not sure how it'll stack up against the GTS being that previous Car and Driver articles placed the GTS at a surprising 0-60 of 3.6 seconds.
Came across this interesting MKIV-style MKV interior render...from the thought of the tightness of the cabin, there may have been a possibility of the driver being almost too enclosed if they went with the throwback styling. Just my thoughts, but the linear styling Toyota went with probably...
I was just keeping a 40k gap with the 911 Turbo...and 70-80k?! Remember people are already complaining about a 50-60k. Also the GTR was introduced 11 years ago...I'm sure many financial underpinnings have changed since then...maybe in regards to this, 10 years ago it was much easier and cheaper...
I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm simply trying to bring some sense into what Toyota did...being that it was this or nothing.
The car deserves the time of day and in person experiences based on the reviews. Given the heritage and increasing values of Porsche's, I myself am cross shopping...
Granted I agree...that's my point! Would you rather have a $140k Supra to compete with it?! Surely it'll be quite the performer; however, where would the market be?! Companies already have difficulty pushing low volume sports cars in cheaper segments! How many would Toyota actually sell at that...
Of course I am. The 911 Turbo is a $180k car...gotta remember that Porsche has been committed to producing sports cars while Toyota was dormant for 21 years lol.
There's a certain degree of how realistic we need to be in regards to the MKV. It competes well with cars in price segments 40k higher...
Granted a good and solid argument; however, in the 90's there was no Cayman and the Supra and Porsche would have been close in regards to price point.
Fast forward to 2019, we have the Cayman S and a 911 ($72,510 and $94,310 respectively) and both cars are within 20HP of one another (350 and 370...
I went to 2 dealerships in South Florida. One was very vague in regards to its landing in the showroom but stated that they are taking $5,000 non-refundable deposits for first delivery. The other dealership is taking no deposits at this time and said their shipment is set for September of this year.
