That's good info, thanks. I don't know how much I'll autoX in the future. The local club shuts down for July and Aug because it's just too hot, especially standing out on a black runway.
After almost 20 years of wheel to wheel racing in the SCCA, autoX was an easy way to see how the Supra...
Well, Canada didn't go the way I thought it would. Great start for George, super first couple of turns for Kimi. It was fun seeing George being able to pull away from Max. It seems the Red Bull car (or Max's driving style) is pretty hard on the tires.
What a great drive by Lando... right up...
So yesterday I watched a lot of Le Mans, and F1, IndyCar and Indy NXT practice and qualifying. But the highlight of the day was the Xfinity race in Mexico! I'm not much of a NASCAR fan and even less of an Xfinity fan. But put those big, heavy cars out on a road course and you have the potential...
If you are anything like me, all I'll get done today is running the TV and DVR for too many hours. F1, IndyCar, Indy NXT, LeMans, NASCAR in Mexico... cleaning mt aquarium will just have to wait!
I appreciate the suggestions and the comments. I used Falkens on my Miata and they were OK wet or dry. I doubt they make them in the size we need for the Supra. But I'll just work on runing off the stock tires first. Driving fast is fun whether you are super fast or just as fast as you feel...
I woke up this morning and went outside to check out the sky and the full moon. I was quite surprised the sky was so clear. The rainy season is just starting down here and the horizon over the Gulf of Mexico is usually very hazy/cloudy. So I jumped in the Supra and rushed down to Bunche Beach...
I so hope you are correct about all your predictions. But I think your last one is a sure bet! I don't think Max or Red Bull want to see Max sit out a race.
Thanks for that suggestion. You're right about the tire changing. Hey, I'm an old dude and I don't need the extra workout! And you are also right about my not needing to be the fastest guy out there. I'm not quite able to run with the youngsters any more. But I do try!
FLtrackdays and I are already friends. But he doesn't do autoX.
I'm just stating what I did last weekend and would like to hear from others who do autoX with a Supra. Especially in the B Street class.
I just did my first autoX with the Supra last weekend. I haven't run an autoX over the last 2 or 3 years. Before that I ran 5 to 9 events a year over 6 years in a 2021 Miata and a 2019 Toyota 86 and a 2012 Miata. I don't claim to be a very good driver at autoX. And I did this event as a kind of...
I'm in SW Florida (Cape Coral). I've been here 25 years. I lined in Columbus for about 25 years before that (big Columbus Chill fan) and was born, raised and lived near Detroit for 30 years before that. I raced SCCA from 1980 thru 1997. I've been doing autoX and a few track days since I moved to...
Nice looking car. What are your plans for it? Any autoX or track days in Thailand?
I just got mine 2025 in January and I'll do my first autoX with it this weekend.
My neighbor has a loud Harley and leaves for work every nice day at 6:20am. He starts it up and drives away as quietly as he can (HA!) But my wife and I just turn and look at each other and say,"It must be 6:20. Days with shakey weather, he drives his Audi A6 to work. I'm OK with it either way...
You mean if the vents were red? Actually, I'd like them better if they were/are real vents and I could light them up from the insider with a dim red glow from some LED lighting!
Strych9 said: "Man... The 25 (and test #23) was the car I was on with RLL. I miss it like you can't imagine."
That do you mean by being on that car? You worked and crewed for RLL? BTW, I lived in Columbus for 20+ years before I moved to SW Florida in 1999. So I've been a RLL fan for a long...
I enjoy IMSA a lot, but F1 and IndyCar ar my real passions. The balance of power in IMSA makes for good racing, but it's so artificial and they keep changing it. So you are at the whim of the IMSA gods as to whether or not your brand will be competitive.
I've done a few Daytona 25 Hour races...
I love the different vents in the side of the hood. The ones on top of the hood are a bit much for me, but they look OK if you are doing track days and looking for that race car image.
