I assume you had a safe drive home as well? Have you ever driven the Tail of the Dragon?
If you auto-X and have never bumped your wipers on, you haven't been doing auto-X for very long. It happens to everybody!
I did my track day at Barber and had a great time. The last time I was there in 2022, it was in a 2021 Miata Club. That was fun and very much a momentum drive. The Supra was very different to me. Much better acceleration (duh) and therefore needs a lot more brakes (duh). But none of the cars I...
You didn't jinx Max. He did it all by himself. He wanted a car with low down force and that over steered (pointy) and that's what Red Bull gave him. He could have done very well in the dry while keeping a calm demeanor. But it got really wet and he had a bout with the Red Mist after getting...
For me, it was a fun race to watch. I love races when wet weather gets involved. Yes, Oscar did a stupid thing by slowing down so abruptly. And the 10 seconds was fair. But Max showed some Red Mist by spinning off right after he got pissed off at Oscar for the hard braking at the end of the pace...
That was an incredible lap by Max. I wonder if he would set the car up with a bit of push and by driving around it would do less damage to the rear tires and be more competitive with the McLarens? I'm wondering if the reason nobody else can drive a Red Bull is because it's so pointy that you...
I agree completely. Watching the big cars slide around is great fun. And they do slide more than sports cars or formula cars, which makes them fun to watch on any kind of road course.
I think there is very little chance that Max moves to Mercedes for next season. Maybe in 2027, but not 2026. And if he did, I think George would move to Aston Martin or Williams, both teams moving up in performance... especially Aston Martin.
And who is going to drive for Cadillac in 2026? I...
I used a cup holder filler I found online and then had my wife use some red and black dragon print material to sew up a cover (I happen to have a thing for dragons). She made it 2 layers and put a thin foam pad inside. It works perfect of cover that section of the console.
I've raced in the rain before. One time, with my E Prod '87 MR2, I was on slicks! Now that was really fun... right up to the point were I was leading and slid just off track at MidOhio and got stuck because it was up hill in wet grass and I had zero traction!
It looks like there is a fair chance of rain or even some thunderstorms for my track day at Barber. I know they won't let us on track if there is lightning anywhere in the area and that's fine. But what about if it's just raining and the track is good and wet? Does NASA let tract day drivers out...
It was a good F1 race to watch. It's too bad Max was knocked out early. But his car, even with him driving, wouldn't have even gotten close to the back end of Oscar's car, let alone Lando's... IMHO.
But the NASCAR race had me on the edge of my seat, and that's beyond rare for me while watching...
No conversations about the F1 race today? I'm a bit surprised. Here is my take:
As a McLaren fan, I obviously enjoyed this morning’s F1 race. But after that I watched the NASCAR race I had on the DVR from Saturday night’s race from Atlanta. Now I’m not much of a NASCAR fan, and especially not...
I did a track day there a few years ago at a Miata Reunion. I got five sessions of 20 minutes each and had a blast. That's why I'm willing to drive 12 hours to get there and do it in the heat of July! I love tracks with elevation change. That's why Road America and MidOhio are my other...
Barber has regular fuel pumps at the track, right? Several different octanes and takes a credit card to pump your own?
I love doing new tracks and I've only done Barber once a few years ago in a Miata. But I've raced on most of the tracks in the Midwest, from Road America to MidOhio and about 5...
So I got to see 3 F1 sessions today, the 2 practice sessions on TV and the F1 movie in a movie theater. If you are an F1 fan (and I am), it's not a bad movie. The story is improbable (but then so many movie plots are), and a few of the racing scenes hard to watch (too phony), but a lot of them...
I'm going to Barber in a couple of weeks. It will be my first track day with this car. I assume sessions are 20 minutes long? How much gas do you use in one session? I never had fuel starvation in my 2021 Miata and that was going quite fast.
I just found this thread here. I'll admit, I don't do a lot of searching or even looking around on this forum. However, I got my Nocturnal Black 2025 in January after just a 2 week wait. But I did have to drive from SW Florida to Gainesville, Georgia to get it. Photos are from my driveway and...
