I had a Toyota 86 for a few years. It was a very nice car. But I want something a bit hotter to drive. This 2025 Supra has just wet my appetite for more power. Now I want that power in a mid-engine car... and not a Corvette.
I finally got some photos back from my track day at Daytona. What an exhilarating day! I raced wheel to wheel for 20+ years in the SCCA and this was the most adrenaline pumping experience I think I've ever had.
I've been to Road Atlanta quite a few times, but always as a photographer. I have to admit that I liked the old layout better, but the new one is still OK. I'm sure it would be my favorite of the 3 big tracks near us.
My favorite track of the almost 20 I've been on is Barber followed by Road...
Personally, I think it was more about the track and how well the cars are suited to it, than nerves on the part of Lando and Oscar. The Red Bull was so well attuned to the track that even Yuki was fast. This wasn't a McLaren track and both Lando and Oscar failed during the red flag fest they...
It was nice chatting with you as well. I'm already scheduled to be there. I've done Sebring a couple of times in a 2008 Miata with an after market turbo. Sebring is fun, but too flat for me to really love. I bit too bumpy as well. Road Atlanta, VIR and Watkins Glen are on my list for next spring...
I was prettyr slow on the banking the first time out and the session was cut short with a long full course yellow and black flag all. The second session I was a bit more comfortable and was doing 120mph, not nearly flat. The third session I was doing 130+ on the banking. I wasn't flat out, but I...
I would have loved to have been in the Toyota Supra shot with my black one! But even seeing the back end of my car is kind of cool. Thanks for posting it. I can't wait to see the shots from the professional photographers. And driving Daytona at speed was just thrilling!
It ran so long that even though I had the DVR set to record 30 minutes after the scheduled time, I missed the last 5 minutes of Q3 and the 6th red flag! With the better competitors mired back in the field, I suspect Max will get a huge lead in just the first handful of laps while George, Lando...
After 20+ years of racing SCCA and 5+ years of auto-x and a handful of track days, I finally picked an item off my Bucket List. I did a track day at Daytona. It's the first time I've been a bit nervous before going out on track in a long, long time. My goal was to see at least 150mph. Here's how...
Before I found my 2025 Supra (photo below), I test drove a Corolla GR. I like smaller cars with smaller engines that like high rpm usage. I've owned 4 Toyota MR2's in my time, 2 of them became SCCA race cars (see photo). All that said, I don't care if they call it an MR2 or a Celica, as long as...
The reason you don't understand why Oscar listened and did what he did says a lot about the kind of person you are. Sad to say...
OK, now go ahead and rip me up and prove my point...
Anybody have any thoughts they would like to share about Colton Herta going from IndyCar to Cadillac F1 test driver and F2 competitor?
Personally, I don't think he has been doing very well in IndyCar the last couple of years. Being the Cadillac test driver is no big deal. Any good driver could...
I think Lewis would be smart to hang up his driver's suit at the end of the year, just to get out whiles he is still viewed in a positive light and with his legacy in tact.
Even I seriously doubt this idea, but maybe like Kimi Raikkonen, he just enjoys the life style and the competition, so he...
As happens almost every Sunday that the F1 race is in the morning, my wife makes us a great breakfast so we can have breakfast while we watch the F1 race. One year she even made them as related to the country they were racing in. Some of those were kind of strange meals and some contained...
So, are we all ready for the F1 season to get restarted?
Any thoughts about Bottas and Chico getting signed by Cadillac? I think most of us saw that coming anyway.
Given that you are driving a convertible, and have some concerns, or at least enough that you are considering other safety gear, I'd be considering a roll cage. I drove my old Miata retractable hardtop on track days with out a roll cage because the SCCA let me. But I never pushed the car or...
