I just completed my first track day of the year. First day on a Maxis RC-1 square track set. I managed to knock 2s off my P.B. at clubmotorsports. I figured I would be real rusty so I am bit surprised. The car feels more predictable definitely more confidence inspiring. Actually had a fellow...
How did you like it? Done a bunch at Pocono both the infield course and Nascar 1&2 with NASA. Pocono is totally different than all the other road courses we have in our area. It is where I learned the most about aero. The speeds and high banking when you run two corners are scary. My Elise...
Actually I believe the real risk is loss of grip as temps drop into the 40s. I drove the car on OEM tires last fall in the high 40s and nearly did a donut accelerating thru a slight 4 way turn from a stop. I wasn’t even pushing hard just huge loss of grip.
Just an FYI I track with a buddy who has a GT4 and we run the same lap times. Obviously it may have a lot to do with the drivers but the Supra is darn close. I have sway bars, camber plates, and one season tracking the Supra on OEM PSSs. This year I have a proper track wheel/tire set.
Hey Bryan noticed you are running 40% ETOH. Have you noticed the ETOH keeps things cooler than when you run E10. I am planning to ADD E85 to my fuel on track days to shoot for 20% see if it makes a difference without a tune.
JB+ really doesn’t work that way. 3-4psi boost everywhere power regulated by whether the DMU pulls timing if things get too hot. I would bet the downpipe is not an issue. You would likely need the JB4 and custom tune to see a benefit.
If you didn't replace the downpipe I doubt your exhaust added that much. It certainly could be a dyno thing, the before and after would have been nice. Anyway more evidence that the JB+ does indeed add something, and likely a noticeable something for those in doubt.
Thanks Bryan. Love the data. 12 laps is legit test. The ambient was very low for a track day. The car must have been extra spicy. IATs are rock solid and very low. No signs of heat soak. I am sure you have some logs from last year. Once you get some apples to apples comparisons it would be nice...
I have always wondered just how much timing (power) is being pulled as a result of IATs creeping up during a session. I would guess it is significant as apparently our turbo quickly becomes a little "hair dryer". Cooling the intake charge = more power. More power than a car with an OEM manifold...
Apex SM-10RS with Victra RC-1s 275-35-18 ET30 square track set-up. No issue with holding air, Apex supplied TPMS worked fine. Stock suspension with camber plates. I had to remove the rubber on the spring perch to prevent a touch of rubbing, it is definitely tight on the inside.
Pump gas is E10 for the most part. If you add E85 to E10 at the right proportion you get E25. The burn characteristics of ethanol are such that is is a great fuel for performance applications. Burns cooler much less prone to detonation. You won't screw p your engine. Actually it is a little...
It’s a bump. I think it is noticeable as does most. It’s so easy and cheap definitely worth it. I wish E85 was easier to get. I think it would be great in combo with JB+. As mentioned on many threads up to E25 is OK per our manuals. I would like to add an air box extension to the high pressure...
