I added the R36 GT-R to the poll. There could be a possibility we see the next generation show up at Tokyo. The below was posted from a member on Supra forums:
"Options magazine speculation says 750-800hp with the VR30DETT and hybrid tech. And significantly lighter at less than 1450kg at $300k"
Damn these greedy business companies
So I have a wild question here. If this is the engine to be used in this collaboration, will GR/TRD be able to make it their own without BMW saying anything? GR/TRD sound like they are serious about racing so will this partnership limit all that can...
So if this is the engine in this car it seems like a slightly upgraded M2 (lighter + a bit more power) but no manual option ?!? Manual M2 starting $52,500 / DCT $55,400. This car carrying a Toyota badge should be slightly less so I'm assuming $45-50k for the top model since they are saving so...
^ see that's my personal issue with driving a manual vs DCT. I just don't feel as connected driving a DCT vehicle compared to a manual. And if these new Auto's feel even more disconnected than a DCT and shifting is not as precise, than that is even more worrisome to me.
I'm still holding out hope for a manual. Look at recent cars that you would consider a 'drivers car', they all offer it with a manual or option at least: 911 GT3 (brought back the manual), Corvette, Mustang GT350, Cayman GT4, BMW M2, BRZ/86, Miata, etc. I'm taking a wild guess but I'd think this...
Not sure if anyone pointed this out but the article mentions the BMW Z5. We've known for a lil over a month now it's going to carry the Z4 badge so this may be old info. based on old rumors.
So here are 2 interesting questions regarding the Tokyo auto show: Due to the time difference for those of us here in the US, I'm assuming there will be some stream going. If this is the case, we'll be seeing this Thursday night 10/26/17 live right? and it being in Tokyo will there be an English...
^ I hope it is the production version. I think it would make the most sense if they are planning to have these in dealerships around the same time next year. Plus if it reflects the FT-1; I think we have seen so many 'what it could look like' designs since 2014 that everyone is just ready to see...
1. What cars will this car compete with?
2. In terms of the chasis; was anything modified to extend the length/width compared to the Z4 besides the exterior panels+bumpers etc. (if this is even the case)?
3. If badged a Supra, what other name(s) was being considered? or if not badged a Supra, why?
