You're definitely not the only one. I really like the car but the transmission is holding me back too.
Manual E46 M3 owner here too. FWIW I also had a F8X M Competition DCT for some time. That car has a stronger engine and sportier trans than the Supra and yet it still got boring (to me)...
I email Toyota every 6 months to ask if they plan to offer the Supra in manual. This may be of no significance and I may very well be reading in between the lines but the wording makes me want to believe :p
If the MT is indeed coming, a safe bet would be that it will be wildly available rather than restricted to a special edition. You know, R&D cost amortization and all that. It wouldn't make sense for them to develop and integrate a different transmission just for a limited edition model.
^ It's not up for debate -never was- and yet you guys keep bringing it up again and again.
I mean, the very post you quoted and responded to is literally explaining to you that this isn't much of a concern to the manual driver/buyer.
Maybe having the fastest 0-60 and what not is high on your...
Maybe I got you wrong but I just joined this community 2 days ago and all your replies in this post are either praising the auto or some expletives about what you picture the manual buyers to be :dunno:
It's amusing how regardless of forum and marque, in MT threads there's always that one guy with the auto that has to let everyone know how much better and faster his auto his.
Look man, we're really happy for you that you're enjoying your car but what exactly are you trying to achieve here...
I think I watched a 718 review where they stated that Porsche had admitted to not wanting to invest $ in reworking the trans and changing ratios etc so what you get is what you get.
It's a shame, such lovely feeling manual car with these absurdly long gears.
I believe the aftermarket is/was...
Couldn't agree more.
Both the manual and the traditional ICE are endangered species. Get them while you still can! One thing for sure is that *if* Toyota does come out with a manual Supra it would certainly be the last of its kind.
The real reason BMW moved away from the DCT is them needing...
I don't know much about the Supra but I'm fairly familiar with BMWs.
The B58 already exists with a 6 speed manual, see F30 340i. Meaning, the (vast majority of) parts required to make this happen already exist. Flywheel, clutch, transmission, final drive etc
RE: differential, axles, rear...
With the Nissan Z coming soon with a manual it would be a huge mistake for Toyota to not dig into the BMW parts bin and throw the ZF 6MT into the Supra.
I don't think we'll be getting any news soon with the new 86 unveiling and all but I remain hopeful!
