So here is my take:
We know that BMW and Toyota are cooperating on a sportscar with a CF chassis as the i3 and i8. Rumors at BMW are that the Z4 will be relaced by a more up-market Z5. The Z5 fits the targeted FT-1 price, so I am very certain both FT-1 and Z5 share the same chassis.

That is why the NSX is such going to be such a great car, using a mix of CF, aluminium and high strenght steels, all implemented in the right areas according to their qualities.
It is not the general material that counts, but the quality of this material and before all the engineering.
Cheep steel won't get you anywhere either.
Most of the time that insider has been mistaken. He has always built up so much hype, that once the final products were revealed, most were disappointed although it would not have been that bad if the expectations were not increased.
Yep, that is what I was thinking about. I hope it won't happen this year or next, and am gald for the NSX that I like at least. Unfortunately a globab recession is inevitable, and the next one will be harsher than what happened in 2008. That was only the first wave, and nothing with regards to a...
Totally agree with diminushing returns. Manual is nice till a certain power-to-weight ratio, but then it just is not enough to keep up with the performance.
No, even normal Porsche 911 has dry sump. How come Covette Z06 has that at such price? Or the new AMG GT? LFA has dry sump. Dry sump is not the most expensive part of the engine.
Yes, hopefully just the block, and everything else (pistons, rods, crankshaft, cylinder head, turbo, oil pan - dry sump -, etc...) will be designed and engineered by Toyota. Not to forget the transaxle gearbox.
Finally I don't care about 2 or 2+2, what is important is that the engine has a mid-front layout, that the car is lower than 1,250 mm and is no longer than 4,500 mm.
There is one aspect that none of you are adressing and that is the transaxle gearbox
If the FT-1 doesn't have manual/DCT transaxle gearbox, it will just be half a job done. Any good front or even better mid-front engine sports car has its gearbox mounted at the rear axle, be it manual auto or...
