FT-1 and the LF-LC were similar in that they came out with 2 LF LC concepts with just different colors. I won't complain if they go straight into green lighting production after the graphite concept.
Other members have mentioned this but I think the FT-1 concept was just a design study. Also it may not have originally been designed with the Toyota-BMW joint project in mind. Sounds like maybe we'll see more FT-1 concepts but this time on the joint platform.
a turbo 6 base and v8 upgrade means they are targeting the higher end of the mid-level sports car market and prices will reflect that. I want the TT V6 to be the top of the line flagship model to come in around 55K. 4 seats is not negotiable for me as I have a young family and need it for...
If toyota is listening to enthusiasts they will not give the Supra a 4-cyl engine. All across the forums and blogs the reactions are pretty unanimously against it.
Loved this car since I first saw it in person. Sharp looking car.
Me thinks there's no way that front bumper design makes the final design tho. Would never pass US regulations.
Totally right. Take Ford's previous GT500 it can outrun most cars in a straight line but it is the same reason it gets destroyed by their much cheaper and less powerful Boss 302 around the track. So lighter > more powerful
Unless they screw up royally the MKV Supra should be much much lighter...
I'm in the manual transmission camp too for this car but autos have come A LOOONG way.
There's top end sports cars that are DCT only now like the GT-R.
So I know this is a joint project of sorts where Toyota and BMW will both build sports car or cars off the same platform but how close will the cars be? Are we looking at a FRS / BRZ kind of relationsihp where it's the same exact car mechanically but just different packaging and styling?
Or are...
Yessss! not because of the game but you have to think Toyota would be crazy to build a concept, a virtual race version and drum up all that excitement only to not actually make the car available for sale. This is VERY promising that the project has been green lighted.
10/09 the concept was shown...sales started in 03/12 but they revealed the production car in 11/11 so depends what point of reference your talking. From concept to actual sales yea like 2 1/2 yrs.
He says the more expensive model has a more viable business case for the vert. It makes sense, it is being co developed with BMW and will have higher margins and bigger budget to play with.
