Out of the 3 concepts, the second one was the closest and the last one was the best. If they went with the last one design it would be even more successful in sales I'm sure of it
First concept
Second
Third
Nothing like this happened for the FR-S if I remember correctly.... if that's any indication. But hey Toyota sign me up! :) I'm a FR-S owner and can give feedback on your latest sports car.
I don't get this kind of mentality. Without even seeing the performance and efficiency specs how do you just say no to hybrid period. Guess what the 2 most impressive cars out recently are -- the hybrid Porsche 918 and Mclaren P1!
One of the best I've seen... such a great color on the ft-1 too.
"So far, Toyota has launched two real-life examples of the FT-1 Concept. The original is finished in a bright shade of red while a stunning Graphite Silver example debuted at Monterey Car Week 2014 alongside the virtual Vision...
There was a FT86 III concept even, but they called it the FR-S Concept. Just googled it and that was revealed in April 2011 and the FR-S production version debuted in Tokyo later that year in November 2011.
Sorry but no, testing on the engine and underlying platform not only can but has to take place before design is finalized. That's all body work. They likely have the dimensions locked down and know what engine(s) are going to be used. The designers can for the most part do all of that...
The rumor is the next concept will be repainted with few other changes so 6 months in b/w them is not too exciting. I want to see body changes to show us what direction the "public feedback" is pushing them in. It's killing me thinking the FT-1 design will be pulled out from under us so the...
I want them to size the concept down a tad. The car looks great no doubt but I saw pics of it next to other cars and it is pretty huge. GT6 has it at 77 inches wide which is insane and no way they build it like that.
Length can be trimmed too.
Wheelbase- 107.9 in
Length- 184.1 in
Width- 77.6...
Maybe not completely random. The FT-86 specs in Gran Turismo 5 turned out to be almost 20% smaller and 10% more powerful than the production FR-S.
2200# (GT5) vs. 2624# (FR-S)
221 hp (GT5) vs. 200 hp (FR-S)
That is interesting I didn't realize how much the FT1 looks like another Calty design. I wonder why they did that.... after reading the article about their design process it seemed like the whole team was freed up to sketch whatever they wanted. I guess this front design is a popular one over...
