That is not just a sports car, but a perfect sports car.
But I can go on: manual transmission, electric side windows, framed door windows, rear diff lock, higher profile tires, no remote central locking, standard ignition switch key - not start/stop button,.....
GT86 is the best sports car...
Everyone has his/her personal definition of what a sports car is. I have mine, and that is why I dislike most 'sports cars', because by my definition a sports car is RWD, shorter than 4.20m and lighter than 1200 kg, and has more than 200 PS.
That is the part of many of the big problems with today's cars. Even FR cars have FF car worthy front overhangs.
Lexus LC is the closest one can get today to get the ideal Honda S2000.
I wish the Supra would remain around 4.20m like the current Z4 at least. Previous was 4.00m. >4.20m is too long for a two seater. The GT86 at least is a 2+2. The MX-5 is nice, but not a coupe.
Sports cars do not sell. They then better make them cheaper. M2 is also the last small compact BMW/M car. Next gen goes FWD. Mercedes SLK/SLC will have no successor. Same for Nissan Z. No S2000 successor.
Porsche 911 and 718 have very good manual transmissions, so linkages or whatever should not be an issue if done correctly. Ford Ranger manual is terrible though.
There is a new ZF 8 Speed transaxle. I wonder why Maserati does not use it on the Quattroporte and GranTurismo (that are RWD), but...
So, no manual for neither BMW nor Supra? Maybe because of the transaxle which is only available as automatic? There are rumors of M8 being RWD only transaxle.
So why does BMW market its CF driveshaft? It is 'splitting hairs' and has no real world benefit. By the way, now it has no more CF driveshaft. If suspensions plays such a little role, why was the rear suspension (MacPhesron sturts) of the 4C criticized instead of the adjustment/tuning, when...
You know road cars cheaper than Porsche have double wishbone front suspension? And you know those cars are also mid-rear engine? Like Alfa 4C and Alpine A110? Facts are facts: Porsche has strut front on 718 and 911, 918 not.
So they'd also get a pass if they used a solid rear axle, because mid/-rear engine? But you know that the race cars still have double wishbone front suspension despite the layout?
It should not be any different than previous Z4 Coupe. Though I would like something like Z3 Coupe (shooting) - thinking of Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ Shooting Concept, also lifted) - I am fine with any 2 seat compact sports car.
I am not amazed by most of what is German nowadays. I like the Mercedes GLC Coupe and the Porsche Macan, and look forward to the Porsche e-Mission. I like the factory armored versions from BMW Security and Mercedes Guard. As for the rest, I consider them futile and most of the time missing the...
