So while picking up my car I had the chance to test mirroring on another. I had the same behaviour of not connecting, so I assume my phone is the issue. The coding steps I posted before should be all you need according to the BMW people, but it's phone dependent as to whether it'll work.
From reading some BMW forums this is because on the non JBL system (HK on BMWs), the sound is sent via optical connection to the amp and the amp does the mixing there. On your car and mine (Jarama edition) the signal is instead analogue over regular electrical cables, and passes through the ASD...
I ended up getting told to take it back to the dealer I purchased from rather than the more local one. So I did that, and I'm getting the same "it's normal on these cars" spiel, supposedly straight from toyota themselves, not just the dealership.
Which is funny, when I sat in another two Supras...
Did you get a chance to try this out yet and have any luck? Any discoveries about what these codes were set to for you? Would be super grateful to hear!
Was it only happening when the engine was on for you? In my case it's happening even with engine off, but only with electrics on. If I turn off the car from the idrive and leave the door open so I can hear, it eventually stops when all the electrics finally shut off.
Update on this, taking it back to the original dealer I purchased from for them to have a go. They're fully aware it definitely should be there and works with androids, works on their manager's car, etc.
In the meantime had a play around in bimmercode... I can make screen mirroring and the wifi...
The mirroring option straight does not show up for me in the car. Nor does the vehicle WiFi setting checkbox show up as per the manual. I'm able to connect my android phone (Sony Xperia 1 ii) via Bluetooth, but can't find a way to make it mirror the screen. Has anyone had this lack of...
So it went to the dealer, who promptly tried to claim "it's just how these cars are", despite the fact it wasn't present on any of the demo cars I drove... Though they were surprised when I reiterated this happens with engine off, speakers muted, so they probably thought I meant something else...
Wondered about that, you had the same exact issue then?
I'd kinda like Toyota to sort it before I go fiddling with bimmercode, in case I decide I actually like the ASD!
Yeah, I don't fancy fiddling about with electronics too much just yet, so I've booked it in. I'll update here with whatever happens in case anyone else has the same issue at some point.
I have the Jarama edition car, so the 10 speaker setup. When I've muted the speakers and/or turned them way down, there's still fairly noticeable hiss/whine coming from the speakers, even with the engine off! It's noticeable at highway speed too if not playing any music, though obviously not as...
Cheers for the info. I was fairly aware of all this to begin with and not too fussed about things like the HUD anyway ?, though I do assume less speakers shouldn't result in static when they're not in use! Especially with the discount I don't feel short changed... Though a glovebox light and...
Received mine a couple of weeks ago, finally got it back from the detailers and PPFing this week, loving it. Got a 10% discount on the price too.
Is anyone finding the screen mirroring option is missing in theirs?
Also, is anyone finding the speakers make a hissing/high pitched noise when the...
What exactly are the steps to get this working and so that you can switch between it and the other modes? Would you be able to write something up in another thread maybe? ?
I have one on order, it's already in the country, delivery date keeps being pushed back after they missed a stated delivery date though, has anyone else experienced that?
Does anyone have any recommendations for PPF application around the Cambridge (UK :D) area?
A friend of mine recommended Topaz but I would prefer not to go into London
Xpel letchworth maybe?
