Did I start this thread? If you don't like alternate viewpoints, then start your own forum with rules that state:

So I guess if I wear gen X, Y, and Z clothes, 0W-20 oil just won't "cut it"? I do know quite a few 20 - 42 year old Supra owners. I guess I'll make sure I don't dress like they do.
Razorlab is being sarcastic. He hates those who contrast older car stuff with the Supra. He is the reincarnation of Doctor House who was the king of insults and sarcasm. (Well, maybe not quite as sarcastic as Don Rickles in CPO Sharky)
I've asked this before but no one has answered: What does BMW specify for oil viscosity and certifications for their Z4 3.0 sold in the US?
Every time I search, this is what I get:
For the BMW Z4 with the 3.0-liter B58 engine (2020–2025 models), BMW typically specifies 0W-20 engine oil that...
You may want to check out "The car care nut" youtube channel. Ahmed, a Toyota master technician and owner of an independent shop created a video in which he explains reasons for thinner synthetic oils. One is an oil pump system that monitors oil pressure and flow. A thicker oil would eventually...
That must've been a great experience. I've cruised on a highway in New Haven, CT at 120 MPH. Then again, I was 22 or 23 years old at the time. ?
Toyota started using 0W-20 synthetic oil in vehicles here in the US in 2010. Some people act as if it's a brand new oil that has never been proven...
Agreed. I believe that the particular shop owner I spoke with would reduce the cost after he finished the job, based upon the actual time spent.
I have done suspension work with a friend, many years ago, but having access to a lift would've made the work so much easier. There is an alignment...
The Dinan website, on their GR Supra springs page, lists 7+ hours for installation time. I called the owner of an independent BMW shop, and his estimated cost to be $800 - $1100. That may include a full alignment.
Same here. I will get my first at-home oil change oil tested. My assumption is that its results will be similar to yours. My annual mileage will probably be 5000 or less, on average.
I'd add that beating on the car for extended periods of time. In Southern Cali, this is a recipe for a reckless driving charge.
I'd add ..."driving normally, most of the time with occasional brief bursts of speed beyond 100 mph."
If your oil temps are spiking beyond 230 or 240°F, then your...
I believe that because Lake's background is oil-testing, he is good with low-viscosity synthetic oils if testing results are good. At some point in one of his videos, he even sided with manufacturer's recommendations.
If what you state is true, then why not use 20W-50 weight oil? After all, higher viscosity is always better for wear, right? Wrong. It's all about bearing/journal clearances and oil temperature. I have yet to see a group of Supras going on a road trip, averaging 120 mph on a 110 degree day...
I find it a bit amusing that you're trying to convince Supra owners that they should buy an EV. If this were an EV forum, yes, those owners likely do not want to have anything mechanical in their cars, including haptic controls.
I am always thrilled when I drive my Supra. The sights, sounds...
Unfortunately, the i8 is not exactly a reliable car. I rented a 2015 in 2019. The car's HUD display would fade to nothing on warm Summers days, and the fuel door release had failed. It was a fun car to drive but I would not want to constantly pay for repairs.
Also, in comparison to a used model...
Maintaining the same spring rate may be hard to achieve. I know that the Dinan springs (1" F, 0.7" rear drops) with handling kit will up the rate by 25%. I'm not sure about the European Eibachs or Whitelines.
For my Supra's oil change I may:
Jack up the front from center position near the oil drain.
Place Rhino Ramps under the tires.
Jack up the back from the front of the diff.
Place another set of Rhino ramps under the back tires.
I did it this way when topping off my diff before the left output...
