I've seen mention that the Supra's alarm ECU can enter "safe mode" after repeated triggers or power interruptions. This may require a dealer-level scan tool to reset.
If there is a Security or Alarm fuse in the fuse box, pull it out for a few minutes and reinsert.
Also, I think that when you...
Nice! My car has the ZF 8 auto, and I'm not sure if the CA referee station puts the drive wheels on rollers to test exhaust sound levels. I recorded sound levels while in neutral.
I've never had to check mine, but based upon some research, you should check fuses:
F4 (MINI 5A)
F5/F6 (MINI 20A)
in the interior fuse box (passenger side) The diagram may be on/in the fuse box cover.
One of my key fob batteries just died, (after 2 years) so I replaced both fob batteries - no problems. In your case, the fob itself is suspect.
Another thought: Is there a keyless entry system fuse?
True, but in Sport mode, it's essentially a straight pipe. My guess is that the stock exhaust routing bypasses the more restrictive path through the massive muffler when in Sport mode.
Ideally, your town has Supra gatherings where you can listen to various setups.
People (like my wife) have mentioned that it is noticably louder than stock (Sport mode). I noticed, instantly that the pops are louder. When I exit my neighborhood (cold engine), I like the increased sound level in normal mode. Once the engine is warmed up, I switch to sport after a short...
You're welcome. It seems like the only way to get louder is to eliminate the cat, with or without a downpipe change. Many of the Supra owners here have done this. Their cars are extremely loud.
I was a bit torn between a Dinan and Borla exhaust, but I selected the Dinan for two reasons:
1. Its pipe routing appears to be better for Sport mode driving.
2. It was about $500 less expensive when on sale.
My guess is that the Borla system may have less drone in Sport mode, given its...
Yes, Southern Cali weather is tough to beat. Many years ago when I lived on the East coast, my sportscar-driving days were very limited compared to here.
The "House" series ran from 2004 to 2012 - not exactly for the strictly boomer crowd. In fact, at its height during seasons 3-4, over 19 million viewers were watching. Viewers aged 18-49, with strong representation from millenials and Gen X, as well as continuing interest from Gen Z in the...
Are you sure that this wording is not included in the manual?
“If the recommended SAE 0W-20 oil is not available, SAE 0W-30 oil meeting BMW Longlife-01 FE or LL-04 specifications may be used. Replace with SAE 0W-20 at the next oil change.”
Lexus does use softer leather - kindof like that on a recliner chair or sofa, but over time it creases and eventually cracks. The leather seats in my 2014 Mazda 3 were similar to those in the Supra. Those still looked good after 9 years us use. My Supra is now 2 years old; its leather looks good.
I've rented a:
2019 McLaren 570S Spider
2015 C7 Corvette
2022 C8 Corvette
2019 Vanderhall Venice
2020 Porsche 911S
The McLaren steering felt really good - well connected, as did the Porsche. Those were my favorites. The Corvettes felt quite a bit larger and a bit quieter than my Supra does, but...
Not at all. Soon after I bought my new Supra, I noticed a differential fluid leak. Razor and some others suggested that the leak may have come from the vent at the top of the diff. I checked, but found that area to be dry.
The dealership tech identified the leak as coming from the diff's left...
The interesting thing is that the glass "glitter" is not noticeable from the outside unless I look very closely. From the inside it is very noticeable when the sun is hitting the glass at certain angles from the horizon. Perhaps the glitter is in the nose of the car and pillars, but not as easy...
