So the original owner is unknown. That throws up a red flag to me, as that person may have treated the car as a rental and beat the heck out of it. It's a gamble of a buy.
Same here. I was shopping for a 3.0 Supra and came across my 45th at a nearby dealership in November, 2023. Since it had an auto transmission, I paid decent markup vs that on a manual version. The Mikan Blast color really stands out; quite a few people have asked me about it at C&Cs. Lately...
I agree. Uneven pad deposition is not uncommon. I had the same thing happen to my C5 Corvette after 5000 miles or so. The dealership resurfaced the rotors at no charge, but told me that the next time it happens, they'd have to charge me. Later, I bought slotted rotors and never had it happen...
I agree. A local shop to me in San Diego (Miramar BMW) installed my Dinan springs and exhaust. Noe, the owner is very meticulous with my car. I could not be happier with his work.
How's your driveway when you wash your wheels? I have a hard time getting the black brake dust off the concrete, even with its clear coating. I also wonder if ceramic pads shorten the life of the rotors. With less than 7000 miles on my car, the OEM pads may stick around for a while.
What brand of PPF are they using? The place that did my car used STEK. I didn't have them cover the roof or rear, since I've never owned any vehicle that ended up with any chipped-off paint in those areas. The roof may be a bit more vulnerable, however.
I look forward to seeing your results
I believe it. The cat is fairly restrictive, although some owners can't put their windows down when stopped, due to the fumes. I rented a catless 2015 C7 Corvette once. My eyes were watering at stoplights. Hopefully your car isn't as bad.
I agree with most of what you said. In sport mode there is essentially no muffler, but at higher rpm the actual sound level is close to stock. And I guess that since the Dinan muffler is freer-flowing, the sound level is higher in Normal mode. Startup is louder than stock. Attached is a sound...
Upon further investigation, it was the Camry and RAV4 that received wired Android Auto in the early 2020s. They then received wireless in 2023. Some or most models of BMWs came with wireless as early as 2019.
This may be an option:
BimmerTech MMI Prime Retrofit Kit
Adds wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Installed behind the infotainment panel.
Includes a USB port (usually in the glovebox) and a wireless antenna.
Cost: Around $800 USD.
Installation centers available globally via...
I picked up the Dinan for $1400 with choice of black or polished stainless steel tips. I selected the latter to break up the blackness and mimic the factory tips.
I think this is a great project. Many years ago, I machined a cold air duct for my C5. It kept IAT well below the temperature at which the ECU would retard timing and drop power.
But I do use the adaptive cruise, occasionally, so I'm not sure if I'd be okay with losing it.
As you probably already know, you can get higher decibel sound with better tone by getting an aftermarket cat-back. I went with Dinan because it produces a lower tone that is not obnoxious in either normal or sport mode. The normal mode forces the exhaust through a resonator/muffler, whereas...
