And I'm not sure how this works, maybe you can shed more light on this side of car development - but just because we've seen one version of the prototype in public doesn't mean there can't be other versions testing in private areas that we haven't seen right? Or do manufacturers eventually...
If I remember correctly, the vents were confirmed to be real, or for some trims, come with removable plastic blockers. And it seems they were indeed designed and placed for maximum cooling and downforce.
One complaint gone, at least! :)
The car has come a long way... and still a long way to go. Personally I'm optimistic with what I've been seeing so far!
I think the tire sizes are especially telling - the M4 has 275's in the back at 400+lbs-ft of torque. Granted it is a bit heavier so it has more overall mechanical grip. For a...
It feels like we as a forum aren't all on the same page. Wasn't there a thread earlier suggesting that the new block would be an iron one derived from some diesel block? And even further back we had multiple hints of a sort of "new generation" 2JZ as well as what seemed like multiple...
I mean, the new Z4 is supposed to be faster than the M2, and the M2 stacks up pretty well to the M3/M4...so the way I see it, roughly:
Supra > Z4 > M2 ~= M3/M4
I also don't see Toyota giving the new Supra much less horsepower than the Z4's 382hp; if anything, I'd expect more from the Supra's...
I agree with a lot of what you said, but again "horsepower" and "underpowered" have to be taken in consideration with weight when talking about fast/slow.
I mentioned before that 911's were "underpowered" if you look at the pure horsepower number, but they're not in any way slow. Underpowered...
Finally someone who understands power to weight!
Porsche has historically made "underpowered cars". The 911GT3 only has 339 ft-lbs from factory (albeit 500hp) and it starts at $144k. If you want numbers close to that I can name 10 cars for under $60k. In fact every 911 could be considered wayy...
I guess it depends on the level of performance you're looking for at the end of the day. If you want a Ferrari even an M car will never "do it for you."
But if you're looking at price, 55k is totally reasonable. Look at it this way - take an M2, already an amazing car, and in fact my dream car...
I don't get what the big deal is about this car being disappointing. When I look at these rumored stats I just imagine an S2000 with actual torque, and modern tech/suspension. This car is going to be a monster!! I really think the top trim Supra should match all of the Cayman S's specs, and...
I think everyone just overlooks how big of a factor weight is. If the rumors are true this car is going to be in another class altogether from the M2. The M2 is almost 3500lbs and still manages 0-60 in around 4.2, if the Supra really weighs under 2900lbs and has around the same torque as the N55...
