Plus, one has to consider that the engineers at BMW and Toyota are not idiots. Sure, the suspension setup is a compromise, it's a compromise between comfort, performance and safety. If you change it, you are changing one or more of these parameters.
I understand the desire to...
Michael here, located in the beautiful town of Cary, NC, located in the general RTP area. Unfortunately, we have been inundated with pollen this year, so I don't actually know what color my car is today. It was originally white. 6-speed manual, natch. I had to travel to Dayton OH this past...
Unfortunately, no. You'll need to buy a real BMW ///M car to have multiple settings (along with cool little buttons on the steering wheel).
Or buy a Cadillac Blackwing which has multiple configurable modes.
Do you think perhaps the additional camber caused the issue? I mean, in combination with the lowering. I only suggest that since you had no problems until that was dialed-in.
You might do better putting this in the correct technical sub-forum.
Mark, my man, if only it were that easy. This kid is so chill, I often have to check his pulse. The only way that this is going to realistically happen is if the wife (she's in the insurance biz) obtains a quote, signs him up and pays the premiums. And I keep bugging her to stop subsidizing...
So, right now I'm in I/T management. As a Boomer, I too was taught to save, defer gratificaiton, etc. and that has served me well despite my ridiculous car hobby/obsession. I could have retired 20 years ago if I had not squandered so much money on cars and had instead invested my money. But I...
I didn't realize that rodents threw a lot of stuff at the car.
So, how many of you fellas and gals and such do these mods strictly for looks, and how many have actual cooling issues that need this solution?
BMW engines are designed to burn oil. How much they burn will vary depending on use, tolerances, etc. However, be careful because once you get that low oil warning, you may be closer to two quarts low rather than one.
BMW makes thousands of these engines a year, and overall it's a great platform and very reliable. That said, last year the B58 in my wife's new X5 dropped a valve at only 7000 miles. Seven thousand. It annoyed me greatly*. It pissed her off so much that she traded in the car after they fixed...
LOL. I'll never forget the first time that I saw a Chrysler Minivan Sport. Yes, that was a real thing.
As for badges, I debadged my Chevy SS so that people would stop bothering me so much about it. I mean, seriously, parking lots, at work, at Lowe's, I'd have to get into these long...
LOL, your dates are going to think you are something special the first time that they see your place!
True story: I sold a car to a friend of mine who later crashed and totalled it. Years later we were planning to go to an HPDE and I asked him to take my track tires (he was...
I brought the wife's car in for service last week (same engine but in a real BMW) because the coolant was a smidgen low and the warranty is about to expire. They performed a pressure test and couldn't find any issues. The service writer (who I generally, mostly trust) said that it's very...
I wonder how much (if any) that yuge wing helps.
I was at the track last weekend and found the car to be super stable at 115-ish. The first time I got it up to 135 or so, I wouldn't describe it as "floaty" but neither did I feel like I wanted to do that again. I did it again and it felt OK...
I was going to compare this size to the one that I used on my M4 when I did the same thing, but they may not have the same thread, so I'm not going to say yea or nea.
What I will suggest is that you use the tap on a non-buggered bolt hole and see if it works. If it screws in with no resitance...
Good luck. You may do better putting this in the correct forum, and better still if you return the car to stock and sell off the parts. Just IMHO, not trying to throw shade on your car.
Oh sure, now you tell me!
Update: My eBay winglets performed well, no noticeable buffeting noise until I got the car over 110 MPH, and they are still on the car (using the supplied tape and glue) even though I might have seen speeds of 135 or so. Yes, I was on the track, nothing...
I took my car in yesterday for the navigation issue (not properly initialized) and the service writer said "we don't see these cars very often, and when we do, you should probably plan on it being here overnight". Sure 'nuf, an hour later he tells me that I'm getting a loaner because it will...
