Price seems fair, just below the 370Z Nismo with auto transmission. I hope they keep the same price logic for us canadians.
As for HP, good enough if car is light and can easily get to 400whp with basic mods + tune.
The author states that the Supra will have a revised engine by Toyota:
It is also worth mentioning that the Toyota Supra, which is on the same platform as the new BMW Z4, does not use this engine, but its body structure is almost the same as that of the B58TU. It belongs to the new engine that...
BMW is milking it. It's not about how much it can be fairly sold but how much profit they could extract.
Hopefully, Toyota doesn't follow the same wrong path as BMW. Tada already said they want the Supra to be affordable...main reason they joint BMW for this venture.
Is the A90 engine going to be reliable and capable of handling at least twice the stock power?
Have you considered an N/A I6 (B58 without turbos) instead of 4 cyl possible option for the A90?
Will a future Celica run on A90 platform with 4 cyl? Would that replace the 86?
The point would be that you could tune it yourself and get the HP unlock...it will be nice if everything in the car was engineered to handle 700WHP but sold at $50k with 350HP. If this is Toyota plan, I'm in.
Spanish reviewer DiarioMotor video stated that: Tada confirmed to him that door is not closed for a manual transmission. See 5:50.
Personnaly, I'm happy that it's not a DCT. The ZF tranny has been proven to be fast and reliable in other platforms. Having a ZF, will help to keep prices down.
In my case, if the car comes with the rumoured CGI block B58 and prices stays in the 50's...I'm in...excitement level 8.
If not CGI block...excitement level 0.
Why not? So because the only known fact that the MKV was co-developped with BMW, it doesn't deserve the name?
Either you get over it or completly forget about the MKV if this is the case...
Why even bother posting in MKV forums then?
Until now, nobody has seen nor driven the MKV...
It's funny that on Bimmerforums, some people want a a real G29 Z4 Coupe...not a Toyota Supra.

Looks like the MKV Supra will be the misundrestood child.
I've owned 3 MKIV and a multitude of other JDMs. Once I see and test...
“will be a pure sports car – practicality and comfort were almost not considered.”
I'll be glad with that. In my case, Supra will not be a daily driver.
Toyota won't be able to please everyone's vision of the Supra.
I hope that Toyota offers the best Supra under the present circumstances...
