Yes, very common here in the Midwest also. Most entertaining: I had a young kid in a BRZ line up and gun his wheezy-sounding 2.4 4-cylinder several times. I let him feel good after dropping my Supra into Sport mode, and just kept up with him, leading by a nose. I thought we would never get to...
Hi. I solved the problem of having a dash cam and a radar detector. I bought an Escort MAXcam 360c. Dashcam and detector all in one. One simple and cheap install, and I have video and detection protection. The video is excellent with sound. Give it a look.
Congrats on the successful mirror tap. I'm assuming you installed a radar detector and tapped the power supply in the mirror to power it. I also am not a mechanic, so when I purchased an Escort radar detector for my 2021 Supra, I also purchased a direct wiring kit from Amazon (I don't recall...
Or, you could do what I did--buy a harness from Amazon for less than $20, then make an appointment with the nearest Best Buy, and for $80, they'll hook it up correctly in 20 minutes or less. And like all the other electrical stuff in the Supra, it takes about 7 minutes to power off.
One of the three retainer clips inside one of my cupholders broke as I pulled a cup out of it. It's not a big deal since the other two clips are still doing a good job of holding cups steady, but I'm curious if there's a way to replace or repair the clip. It's just the plastic part that broke...
On my 2021 Supra 3.0, I have an Escort MAXCAM 360, hanging on a BlendMount, and connected directly to the rear view mirror. I purchased the necessary wiring from Amazon and had the whole thing installed by (don't laugh) BestBuy, in about 30 minutes for $79.
Great lesson on why not to drill holes in the hatch for a wing. Otherwise known as buyer's remorse. Good luck. It sounds like a long and expensive journey (cost of the original wing+repair+new wing).
I read about the update on this forum and took my Supra to the local Toyota dealership. It took just a few minutes less than 3 hours, but they did the update. Ironically, I got the letter update letter from Toyota last week.
