Do you know if BMW is sticking to B48/B58 or using a modified version for the Z4?
Is a Z4 M really discarded at this point? M2 competition engine/drivetrain in the lighter, nimbler Z4 could be a true Boxster S killer...
All 996 - 997.1 GT2, GT3 and Turbo models use the Mezger engine, which does not have an IMS and is a pretty bulletproof engine (coolant hoses aside). Those are the ones to get.
997.2 GT2, GT3, GT3 and race car (Cup/RSR) continued to use the Mezger engine, but the Turbo moved to the newer...
My brother (who is almost clueless about cars) bought a Renault Clio RS. He called me just to tell me how awesome it sounded. He wasn’t so thrilled when he found out the car had an artificial engine sound “generator”, with the setting “Nissan GTR” enabled.
Before looking at these pictures I thought the Supra GR Concept was built mostly to grab attention at car shows and please Gran Turismo fans. Instead, the cage, pedal box, steering rack, driver cooling, fuel cell (not to mention aero) all point to a proper development for the GT racer. This is...
Thanks for the effort Ryley.
Rear suspension seems F30-based. Front also "F-related" but with more significant changes. The key will be in spring/shocks/bars tuning, combined with the rigid body.
Almost got that PN
When Porsche introduced the 997 Mk2 in my country they had both options available, PDK or manual, with the PDK being more expensive. Result: Over 90% of owners chose the PDK. Now manuals are special order, and a real rarity.
From a financial perspective, a fast auto box makes a lot of sense...
With values of several 70´-80´-90´s Toyotas increasing, what is your perception of Toyota as a brand supporting the historic aspect of the marque, specially regarding sports cars? I own two AE86´s, and it has become increasingly difficult to obtain parts for these cars. What about old Supras...
Amen. This is critical. "Easy" ECU access is one of the reasons some cars are so popular for modding: Subaru/RomRaider, Mitsubishi/EcuFlash, Honda/Hondata, just to mention a few, allow for significant modifications without going to the cost and complexity of a standalone ECU.
Fresh off the Magna-Steyr plant?
The last car on the lower floor is running a smaller tyre/wheel combo, probably the 2.0t version.
Exhaust tips seem better finished than the ones we saw on the Goodwood test. Probably getting closer to final specs on these. Same ugly mirrors though.
This is such an interesting data point. If true, the Supra may not have a great power/weight, but it`s compensating with insane handling.
Excuse my bench racing, just can`t resist. German magazine AutoBild has a very nice laptime database, highly consistent, all pro drivers, at a German...
I do, but only due to local market issues: I highly doubt I can get Toyota to sell me a Supra in my country, they don´t even sell the 86! BMW on the other hand will 100% bring the Z4. I could import the Supra but it`s a real hassle, no warranty, and at least 50% over the price on US market. We...
A nice choice of material to cover the wildly different crowds the Supra must try to please:
- A80 owners: "It must make at least 3000hp on stock block and rods for me to consider this car"
- GT86/Miata/S2000 owners: "what an overweight pig! it`s only designed to go fast in a straight line?"...
