What do people generally do with the B58 engine to get big HP? is there a performance market out there for that sort of stuff and do people use standalone ECU's or are they just kind of locked to the encoded BMW map supplied and do BPU based upgrades?
I literally can't find anyone that uses...
I am a complete novice on the BMW B58 engine, tuning it, performance upgrades etc. Looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_B58 I hope we get the top trim with modifications made by Toyota to possible allow easy tuning.
I read some of the comments on the engine over at bimmerpost, seems...
I really hope you're right, however were about 6 months away from this car being released. Judging by the image and the time frame left I would honestly say that we might be looking at a very close production level interior for the MKV, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was the production...
I have nothing against the BMW interior, nor am I defending anyone here, however judging by the recent leaks I am fairly sure this is almost at production stage (see below).
Never the less I am really holding out my comments for once I actually drive the car, I really love my MKIV's and I've...
Call it a Celica/MR2 or anything else that doesn't depict one of their all-time best vehicles to have come from Toyota. I get the whole business/corporate aspect so I don't disagree with you in that regard. However I will hands down say that this is a joke of car that will sell to the mainstream...
Absolutely, I'll definitely take one for a test drive once it's released, I don't want to fall into a mindset of being biased about vehicles that I've driven in my era of when Japanese cars were at their greatest point *(for me it was the 90's)*. So in all I am fairly open-minded, I just...
SPMS,
From what we can see you can clearly see where the interior is heading, it's BMW territory for the most part. I am referring to the dash and instrument panels.
Clearly there's more to just placing the engine in the vehicle, I understand that - the fact is that it's BMW powered, modified...
So lets get this straight:
1. BMW engine/power train.
2. Fake vents.
3. BMW interior.
4. No manual
5. 3000+lbs & 350HP motor.
Please call this a BMW, it's simply not a Supra - period and will never be. Disappointing to say the least.
I loved the sounds of the vehicle from the clips, it sounds mean!
I also agree, it's just different camo going around the track, nothing interesting besides the sounds of the vehicle.
No one knows whether any of this information is true or from a legitimate resource, so take my words as my opinion as I am basing it on the information that's been posted here. I've owned multiple (can't even keep count) MKIV supras and have driven almost every JDM vehicle produced in the 80's...

I had the first generation (literally when the car was released) - this is in Australia by the way, literally half the 86's when released had the CEL issue. My care literally lived at Toyota for 4...
I've had a 'brand new' 86 for 6 months, it spent 4 months at Toyota fixing an issue with the engine. I'll hardly call it reliable. I sold it in my 6th month of ownership.
I am fairly sure RyleyMA61 is trying to get to is that we shouldn't settle for anything sub standard for the Supra name - whether it's coming or not. So you may be happy that it's being released as a 'Supra', this doesn't mean we should settle for a sub standard setup unlike it's predecessors.
hmm, it looks identical to the BMW interior, correct me if I am wrong but I do recall reading an article where Tada was interviewed and he did state that the cars interior will be completely different.
Toyota have stopped being innovative (IMO), here's my reason why:
In the 80's/90's Toyota really pushed with innovation, new concepts, new designs etc. They really went outside of their comfort zones to try new things. In that day and age sales simply didn't happen at the magnitude that they...
Seriously, I only visit this forum in hopes to see some positive news about a manual, otherwise I have really lost any interest in buying an automatic car.
