Our current wheel and tire set up is 18x10.5 Titan 7 TS-5 with 275/40/18 Yokohama A052, on both front and rear. The 18-inch T7 wheels were a limited production to test interests but let's see if they'll make more in the future!
I did a bit of research and sort of figured it out. Apparently for many people, the Supra came from factory with 0 rear toe, which is a pretty bad idea on a relatively powerful and short wheelbase RWD car. This happened to Misha of Apex Nurburgring and likely is the case for the magazine-rested...
The build has been delayed over the past few weeks, which was mainly due to our error in time management, but we’ve finally got back on track and there’s been a lot of progress recently!
First off, here’s how our PhD Racing x Spage Sport hood will look! This is a work-in-progress, so the actual...
I’m working with Sparco on the interior safety side and will be doing a pair of their new Evo QRT seats. I believe it’ll be at least a 30, maybe 35 lbs saving from each seat including the seat base (OE was 50 lbs each). Battery-wise, I was told their 19lbs 60Ah H8/Group 49 Lithium battery...
Should give an update on this thread as well. One of the moderators Guff (who bought my crashed A90) measured the battery to be 64 lbs. I just purchased a new lithium battery from Anti-gravity, as well as some new bucket seats and some carbon fiber bodywork. I will be adding more weight in with...
Mid-week update: I've been busy in school, but our aero master has been even busier. He hasn't even shown me how anything looks but did give me this teaser shot of the hood in progress... I MIGHT be a bit biased but sorry, TRD Who?
Hope to have the car's aero ready this weekend, then it's...
You're 100% correct. The incident happened on a warm up lap, when I wasn't pushing at all. It is my mistake and error in judgement, but like you said, I look at it as a fluke.
Would love for us to get back on topic! Sorry for the lack of updates on the TA90 V2 thus far, we have a lot of molds...
Former open wheel driver, since racing open wheel costs a lot of money, which I honestly didn't have.
But sure, I will take a step back here. There was no ego involved, I just think I'd do fine with driving and modifying my own Supra, as well as sharing the progress and what we can do together...
... Seems like the hateful YouTube comments have followed me here. Ha.
The plan had always been to upgrade my A90 Supra, crash or not. This setback just meant we might as well go for it. I had felt very comfortable pushing the Supra and driving it on its limits until the crash, and I will...
Update on the TA90 Version 2...
The car is currently located in Canada getting a major aero rework. I was very happy with the high speed stability of the car at tracks like Road Atlanta, but it was clear that with a bit more downforce, we could get it around the track even quicker.
To tackle...
Wanna know something pretty crazy?
We just measured the entire front clamshell. That gigantic thing is only 37.1 lbs!
I guess I need a new racing battery ha
I'll be honest, I enjoyed the car with the rear muffler delete ha. With a helmet on, factory exhaust is so quiet you can barely hear it even in Sport.
It also gets way quieter after the revs drop, and goes back to near-silent at idle even without the big rear muffler. Didn't street drive the car...
Last Update for the original TA90, a few lap times we put down before we met a tire barrier.
1) Road America
2) 2:30.769
3) 9/7/2019
4) TF-Works Axleback Exhaust, Rear trim delete, CSG CP front brake pads, Endless RF650 brake fluids, Titan7 TS5 19x9.5 19x11 wheels
5) 255/35/19 275/35/19 RE71R...
We took the entire thing apart, the rear caliper looks like the same thing, but the rotor is visibly smaller. Since we don't have a premium to compare it to directly, we are suspecting that the difference is the rotor itself and the rear brake caliper bracket. We should be able order the larger...
Well, I was depressed for quite a while, but there comes a time where you gotta just suck it up and move on.
Thankfully, with track insurance being very cooperative and my new best friend Guff picking up the wrecked gray car, I was able to get back into it with this, the TA90.2!
This specific...
As the idiot who put this car into the wall in the first place, thank you Guff for willing to take on this project. I really didn't want the car to end up in the hands of someone who'll slap a widebody on, make it a show car, and then have it stored away for eternity after the hype has died and...
Haha. Just to explain, Fiona was driving the Blue S2000 that you could see in the rear view video. I didn’t have a passenger... obviously.
I’m currently not selling the car for parts, still waiting on insurance to get back to me, but I will likely see the car off privately as I already have a...
Between the interior panels and the muffler delete, I saved about 75 lbs total. The next step was the seats, but now that the car is totaled we kinda gotta start all over again!
So the car has been pretty much totaled. I'm still waiting on final confirmation from the insurance side but the fate has been decided.I'll be in the market for another A90 in the next week or so, hopefully back on track early October. I just can't keep myself still ha. Trying to make the best...
Yup I just did that. God I hate myself right now.
What sucks is that I wasn’t even pushing hard for a time. It was towards the end of my warm up lap, just run a tiny bit wide and caught the grass, and that was that.
Don’t know if the car is totalled or not, I luckily had a stroke of brilliance...
