The clear coat on the MKVs look great now if only they can get the colors to match as well as Toyota does.
Hope they fix the lack of color coverage on the nocturnal plastics and match the bumper color to the hood better on the renaissance. The bumper is darker.
We get refinishing guidelines from the manufacturers and it seems Toyota's transition to base coat/ clear coat was around the mid 2000's. You can see how it changed throughout the 2000's. I am surprised how some of their cars were still single stage as you pointed out.
Here's a note from 2010...
My 040 has clear. All the 040s we fix has clear. The 040 Rav4 the I just assessed has clear.
I've been in the repair industry for a long time. Modern cars use a 2 stage paint system with the exception of tri coats.
Only time I see single stage paint is if someone touched up their car or if...
040 and 202 are not single stage.
Along with the other 99.9% of paint on cars today, it is base coat/clear coat application or 2 stage paint.
Single stage has been long gone. Single stage paint does not have a clear coat on top hence "single" stage.
Do not confuse non metallic colors with...
Car manufacturers have been using clearcoat for decades. Most have been using it for over 30years.
The word "detail" has been so loosely used over the years. Sorry but a wash and wax does not constitute a detail.
You should not be seeing yellow. I hope it is just contaminates that you are...
If the airbag doesnt deploy in a major accident, insurance and warranty would be the last thing on my mind.
As for warranty, it's a type of warranty claim you hope to never have to file. If you do, I don't see it going in your favor since the steering wheel has been modified.
As for...
Could be the same reason the front bumpers on the red ones are darker than the rest of the car. If Toyota actually painted the cars, the colors would be more consistent. The clear coat Magna Steyr uses looks great tho.
Glad to see someone making a complete replacement of the OEM lip instead of adding onto the bottom of it.
Would you be able to make it where the lip extends to the lowest point of the bumper making the bottom flat?
Does the sides extend all the way to the wheel opening?
It seems like Toyota...
He talks like every sentence is a question. I know he is a very knowledgeable engine builder. He's been doing it for a long time but when I hear people talk like that, it's hard to pay attention. Are they asking me or telling me?
Looks like they opened the hood with the wipers arms up.
Have them compensate you for the damage but I think you should just touch it up.
Whether you repair it or change it, it still requires painting.
New parts do not come from painted.
