My PPF guy said the same - he had done another Supra before my car and he told me he wanted 2 extra days to do it vs his normal amount of time because it was such a pain.
I'm bummed - I now have a pretty notable tear in the PPF on the hood from my last track weekend. Looks like an OPR (other...
18x10.5 w/ 275/35/18 square here. Much more balanced and better turn-in. I'm stock power, so I'm not fighting with the 500hp of some of the folks here.
Risking flaming because there are gobs of posts on "upgraded axles" here, but none I could find on what I care about - running an upgraded axle on a track car. Here's the deal:
One of my car bucket list events is to do a drag and drive event. The car guy in me wants to pick up an ugly but...
I have TPMS in my track wheels - the quote above - this is me...I nerd out at the temp measurements. I know they're likely some algorithmic b@stardization of what the actual tire temps are, but it's at least a known baseline/known max that I can compare.
My first real race pads were Hawk Blues...and they embedded themselves in EVERYTHING, so I know that pain. I had pretty good luck with the DTC-60s on my E36, but I also worked pretty hard to keep that car clean, since it was legit nice.
Carbotech - I have mixed feelings towards them as a...
So...I guess I'll make a less sweeping statement and qualify it a little. Every set of Hawk, Carbotech, Raybestos, and CSG race pads that I've ever used on the street dusted like a mofo.
SRF - I highly recommend it and have good experience with it so far. Endless is another good choice - I think Razorlab runs Endless.
Yes, CSG 21/11 are fine for street. They're loud and they dust, but EVERY race pad on the street does that. Dead cold bite requires a teeny bit more pedal...
I can confirm...Billy was indeed quick at Summit Pt. this weekend. I finally met Billy in person, as well as a bunch of other Supra guys who may/may not be on here (Wilbur, Tristan, etc.)
I put one of my LeMons teammates in my car, and we pretty much hot-lapped it all weekend, numerous...
Yup, agreed...and I used to be an instructor. When I felt a student was progressing beyond where I could help them, I had a couple of "go to" instructors that I'd push them to, if scheduling allowed.
Bad instructor story...I was an intermediate student in my old RX-8 at Summit Pt. My...
Obviously, this thread has matured a lot, but I think you want a "coach" to spend a weekend with you, especially if you get motion sick in the right seat. If the org will allow it, lead-follow sessions will help to reinforce the in-car sessions.
You are not the first person I've heard say that about Skippy schools, and I've heard it about Bondurant as well. The folks I've met that liked them went in with a VERY narrow focus - getting their license quickly. They were quick already, and the "teaching" part of the school was waaaay below...
I'll bite - there's a BUNCH of different ways you can look at this.
For those of us who came up through the ranks of "High performance drivers education" events, a lot of people consider those a "racing" school (quotes applied strategically). That's the entry point into true wheel-to-wheel...
+1 on the TSW Imatra / TSW Kimora *
* Make sure you've got a little sidewall if you're going to use these. Personal experience with these bending lips with track usage with 285/30/18s...but with a little more sidewall - 275/35/18, mine are still straight and true.
These err on the...
Another short guy using the Hybrid S with the stock seats/belts in the Supra. As soon as I put the device on, I forget I'm wearing it. I ALWAYS put it on outside the car.
Dead thread bump...some lessons learned on these rims - both good and bad. I just googled, and you can still find these wheels for about $130.
A friend of mine running OLOA last year in his '16 Audi TT ran a set of these exact same wheels, but on 285/30/18 vs me running on 275s, both of us...
No pressure, but you know the rest of the Supra community wants YOU to guinea pig this for us. I bet you could get us to GoFundMe a Holley Hydramat for you if you tried.
Selling a staggered set of Enkei GTC02 for $1200 shipped to anywhere in the continental US. Local pickup (Maryland/Northern Virginia/Washington DC area) will be a bit less. TireRack sells the fronts for $495 and the rears for $513 at the moment.
I bought these in '22 with plans to run...
Interesting cascade effect with TireRack carrying Nankang now - They might be eligible for OneLap in '24. When I was buying stuff from Jackie earlier this year, he wanted to do OLOA, but with Nankang as his tire sponsor for other events, he couldn't get away with running a different brand in...
I bought a set in late '15 for my E36 when they were pretty new on the market. I only ran them for 2 events at Sonoma and liked them a lot. They reminded me of a shaved Toyo RA-1 - similar grip and feel. I kept them until '18, but they were bricks by then, so I tossed them out.
Yup, Bryan is correct on the TW. I think everyone here knows this, but I'll say it for clarity..treadwear isn't some objective rating method with lots of engineering behind it. It's really an "honor among thieves" rating method, at least down in the 200TW area. The 200TW stuff is really about...
