How does it not? It looks strikingly similar to the X5, 1 & 2-Series and previous BMW concept interiors.
As for depressing, more like disappointing... One of the most striking and distinct features of the MKIV was the engaging driver-centric, fighter jet cockpit interior; understated and...
What is the point of a discussion forum?
Here's a thought: Instead of whining like an 8 y/o with a skinned knee and calling for threads with discourse to be deleted, you simply don't participate?
Evidently it's a shrouded outlet to seek retribution, having not been able to acquire a MKIV of this own (insert multiple excuses here). Sprinkle in a failed "2JZ swap" project or two, and you have all of the makings... Rather ironic, considering how well behaved he is over at SF, just trying...
Still stuck on this...? I didn't imply, you made an assumption -- I don't even know what an E89 is, FWIW..
Consider the context. That statement was in response to "No one cared that the Supra was built off of a Soarer/SC".
BITD Supraforums was certainly not a place for people with thin skin, or otherwise lacking the wits or horsepower to do 'battle'. The arrogance that permeated the air was not baseless, though -- it was largely grounded in real-world performance and accomplishments. The MKIV Supra was still...
:coffee:
Awww... You MKV cheerleaders are cute and all with your straw man justifications and circular back-patting. Echoooooo, echoooo, echoo...
From my purview, there's a rather clear and unfortunate bifurcation among the 'enthusiasts' and that extends far beyond this forum. In...
Riiiiiight.. And yet here you (and the other white knights) are, choosing to continually engage (care).... The irony is palpable. Especially considering this thread is essentially asking MKIV owners what their reaction/response is to this car. I've owned 5 MKIV's TT's over the years...
It's absolutely laughable to consider the MKIV as the performance benchmark for the MKV, in any trim, to exceed. Almost 3 decades of market progress, R&D, anticipation, etc.. and all we can expect/speculate as an output (of another unwanted co-collaboration) is merely incremental progress over...
I named those cars specifically as examples, but really I'm referring to that overall market segment. Essentially today's attainable supercars; the same category the MKIV competed in. Instead, I fear this car will be going head-to-head with base model Camaro and Mustang variants.
If you (re)read what I typed then that should have already been inferred. Manual trans, comparable performance metrics to GT-R et al --- I am 100% in.
No manual in the Lexus offerings, no care.
The short answer is: not a re-skinned and re-badged BMW Z4. Other than a turbocharged inline 6, nothing in this car aligns with the 'heritage' of the Supra.
A worthy successor, IMO, would have been built by Toyota to be a direct competitor to the GT-R, Corvette Z06, NSX, etc.. offered with...
