There were relatively accurate renders floating around for months, but no actual photos. Overall the perception was much better managed and the reveal was truly a reveal, IMO. There have been extremely accurate renders for the MKV for over a year now.
The C8 is definitely the 2nd worst kept...
If they just reversed the RHD and LHD center consoles it would go along ways to improving the aesthetic, IMO. The result would be a bit of a throwback to the MKIV layout.
Worst kept secret in automotive unveiling history.. It's been such a mismanaged fustercluck I can't tell if it's embarrassing incompetence or 'genius'. :dunno:
Coincidentally, FB reminded me that 6 years ago today was the much anticipated unveiling of the C7. Which, FWIW, remained...
It's significantly better in every way, IMO and I would have much preferred it. I can't get over how unbelievably bland and boring this hodge podge is. The AC controls remind me of a CB radio screwed to the bottom of the dash of a 70's Econoline (see the partially-obscured profile pic).. The...
Agreed 100% on all.
This is a cool car and I'm glad it exists and hope it does well so it can be improved upon. However, it pains me that this the next "Supra" rather than a Celica, GT86 v2 or diet FT-1, etc..
It definitely looks like something new has been added to the fascia vs. the leaked silver car. After some pondering I'm guessing it's a license plate and not previously-unrevealed front end/aero.. :( The way the cover is draped makes it look almost Vantage-ish
You can still buy new OEM shortblocks and cylinder heads (though they've almost doubled in price the last few years). There's been no apparent shortage of import longblocks still available from the usual suspects. Sourcing an engine is not a problem; there are a lot of over practical hurdles...
There's a lot of caveats to that statement. Yes, 1000WHP has been done on the dyno multiple times over the years; however, you never see these cars doing big pulls, let alone 1/4 or 1/2 mile runs at that power level. A healthy stock bottom end with a lazy turbo (less peak TQ) will almost...
If you can't visually distinguish the obvious styling differences between those two brands then there's no value continuing down the path.
Ironically "FT" stood for Future Toyota. Who woulda thunk their future was offshoring 98% of their halo car to Austria... :dunno:
You totally lost me on calling those interiors similar. The Lexus examples are distinctly Lexus and the BMW examples are distinctly BMW; very different design languages.
Ok, so still just speculation on who actually penned the interior.. I don't have any significant reason to believe Toyota...
I just don't see the similarity or styling cues comparing those Lexus examples to the current MKV images. I do, however, see similarities here:
Is it known fact that Toyota styled their interior? At this point I actually prefer the Z4 design...
Aside from the scratch-prone texture on the 93-96 dash panels, I can't think of a single interior element that was a step down in material quality. It's more spartan for sure, but the MKIII was heavily clad in 80's-style rubber, plastic and fabric. The rubber dashboard with the molded faux...
