The dealer managed to get most of the vibrations out by padding the isofix plates behind the seats. The JBL system is still pretty rubbish though so I need to decide what to do next.

Yup. left hand side for me too. though in my 2018 Mini it was on the right hand side. exactly for the reason that's it's closer to the driver. I thought it was configurable in the iPhone, but I can't find a setting.
