...damage the pump.
I have a 2020 model, and I’ve already had the recall addressed. Since then, I haven’t experienced any issues with oilpump pressure or oil level readings. My car has gone through six oil changes using Liquimoly 0W20 and has recently switched to 5W30. It has never burned oil...
I have a lift and tools etc. it’ll just be my first “BMW” I’ll ever be working on. There also doesn’t seem to be a write up anywhere I can reference to do it myself. I just don’t wanna go to the dealer and they brick my ecu. I’ve heard of cases where people tell them not to plug in and they get...
Unless your garage is well equiped I don't think you'd even be able to change your oilpump by yourself. It requires the subframe to be dropped. Just had my oilpump replaced a couple of weeks ago. $590 for the pump and like a grand in labor fees.
You can try to bring your car to the...
I did that recall and it’s been well over a year since it was done. Just unsure where to go from here. I don’t want to do the oilpump myself and then it’s doesn’t solve the issue. Then I’m paying for a whole motor
If this is the saga I recall, it wasn’t the dealership that didn’t tighten your oil filter. The filter was an aftermarket with an orange o-ring which pretty definitively proved the dealership was not where that oil change was performed. The factory o-ring used by Toyota and BMW is black.
This gives me PTSD because when I got that message on my car, my engine blew within minutes lmfao. Turns out the dealership didn't torque down the oil filter in the housing and I dumped 7 liters of oil in the span on minutes. Then my car shut down. Dealership denied responsibility. They quoted...
I suspect your oilpump has failed.
This would be covered under warranty, and (except in very specific circumstances that are probably not applicable to you) would not be caused by the tune.
You can either let the dealer handle this, or do a DIY oilpump replacement. I haven't checked in a...
I
I recieved the oil feed line restrictor, put it in, haven’t seen smoke since. The oil level was not dropping so my issue was quite minor. I’ll keep an eye on it though
Shawn said they did change the internal design of the turbo to mitigate the issue, so you might not have the issue if you...
Very interested to see where you get to with the oil issue. Looking at a similar setup down here in NZ, need to be on 98 as well - no pump E85. Thankfully a bit cooler ambient temps though :)
Hey guys,
looking for some advice or if anybody has any experience with their lower coolant reservoir looking a lot more murky and brown than the upper reservoir for their coolant. It’s 21 3.0 automatic (obviously), 32k miles. I’m led to believe the upper is intercooler and lower is engine and...
Did you notice it more when you had the A/C running? I'll need to drive my car a couple more times to pinpoint the sound before taking it to the dealer but I could almost swear it was coming from around the area where the alternator/compressor/drive belt live. I'll try to see if my car can...
...only appeared after about 5 minutes of driving as I tried to replicate it on cold starts but wasn't successful. After they replaced the oilpump I no longer hear the noise and have tried numerous times to replicate it since the fix but it's all good now.
But yeah I would take it to Toyota...
Just double checking, but did you hear this whine when you pulled away from a light? Did it feel like you lost a little power for a second? I'm trying to diagnose a similar whine with my 2020 and want to get it sorted before the warranty is out.
Also how often did it happen? I tried having my...
On Bimmerpost I’ve seen at least one person mention they had a whining noise coming from the oilpump (along with inability to measure), which was resolved after replacement, so hopefully that’ll take care of it for you.
Ha well, “blown out of proportion” is a bit subjective, but there’s...
...to your dealer if you see a trend in the wrong direction. on my X7, oil level didn't read the first time i tried, but worked the 2nd time. i'm in the monitor stage currently.
Edit: I'm also still not confident that there is a new design oilpump. imo it was a bad batch(es) of pumps that went...
Update: dropped my car off 11/12/24 got a call 2 days later on 11/14/24. Service advisor told me that the oilpump was ordered and currently waiting for parts to arrive they did not provide me with an ETA. The whining noise concern I have as-well has not been addressed yet, they will look into...
2021 here at 22k miles no oil consumption over the 2k miles I’ve owned it this year. Also no issues reading oil level (another thing to watch for which is a symptom of oilpump issues).
I've resolved this issue on my setup and believe I found root cause. The latest theory behind the exhaust cam VANOS deviation is that the increased fuel rail pressure adds additional load on the exhaust cam due to the cam-driven high-pressure fuel pump working harder to create that pressure...
